Minimum wage in California (where I'm located) is $14/hr in 2021. After taxes, that means that extra $25 is about 2.5 hours of a person's time, on top of a set that -- if it were $89 -- would cost 9 hours of their time. And if this were retail prices for leader plus deluxe: $53 + $23 = $76 = ~7.5 hours of time after taxes. That takes a set that could be earned on one day's work, if this were using retail pricing, and pushes it over into a nearly 12 hour shift. And all of that is even worse in states that use the Federal minimum wage of $7.25/hr -- take everything I just said and double it.

$25 is a lot to many people, and while I'm lucky to work a job that's pays well above any state's minimum wage, it's not a nothing amount even to me. It raises this set about 25% to 30% above what it "should" cost based on the pricepoint of the individual figures and it's totally reasonable to care about that.

Looks nice, but I'm not sure I'd pay that much for the set. I'd say I'd wait and see if it drops, but Scalpers are probably gonna be all over this.

You know, I was thinking KITT and even like Airwolf would be cool, but those are kind of extreme deep cuts in 2021.

I wonder if anyone 30 or younger even knows or care what Knight Rider is?

All the collabs so far have cult like followings or some kind of a recent media tie-in?

If I was a betting man, I’d say something Star Wars or Star Trek related will be next?

He’s (She’s) there to eat goats and kick ass. Since there’s no goat to be seen, that only leaves one option.

I find this more subtle than "MAVERICK" written across his head.

been awhile since I’ve watched JP. I didn’t remember they used the explorers for the tour cars. I just remembered the Jeeps. And I recently saw a JP jeep at a wildlife reserve. So it pushed my memory more towards ’just Jeeps’. I was bummed cuz I was hoping for a siege hound retool into a JP Earth mode Jeep, only so that they’d actually make a new Hound.
That T Rex paintwork looks great. Too bad the mold itself is so riddled with problems.

I think that, because this Transformation Scheme has been done so many times, people are experiencing major pareidolia. They are looking for patterns where they don't exist.
Meanwhile, the licensing rights alone are kind of pricey. Jurassic Park is HUGE. They don't even have the product rights for the actual Jurassic Park toys that aren't these guys. Those rights are with Mattel. Unless there is some Merger going on between them, I don't think that they will get the rights for more than these guys. So they are making these guys count. And then there are the rights associated with the 1992 Ford Explorer XLTs to make JP93. So, those licensing rights aren't cheap, by any means. And then there is the costs of making the molds. Even though Tyrannocon Rex is a remold of Kingdom BW Megatron, JP38 is a brand new mold. Now I was looking this up and look at this link from TFW2005's Sister Site HissTank.
How much does it cost to manufacture an action figure? - HissTank.com
According to this thread, the cost for an action figure, specifically the tooling of a mold, according to a user called kneroh,
to which, the user captain mal says
I know that they are talking about G.I. Joe figures, but this shows how expensive a simple G.I. Joe takes to make with just tooling the mold. Nothing about the materials or everything else. And Transformers Figures are way more complex than a simple Action Figure, so the molds are likely way more expensive.
Now, subtracting the price of Kingdom Megatron (~$45 USD), you get all the rest of it for ~$60. Which may not be the cheapest but I feel the price is justified compared to everything else.

The price is absurd. This is an easy pass for me.

...okay, some third party needs to make a small Goat Transformer now for this set.

Also, for all those going "Oh, I'll wait for a deep discount!" I'd warn you that the Jurassic Park fandom is far more active than the Ghostbuster, BTTF, and Top Gun fandoms are. This figure is attracting their attention A TON

I will say that either the raise from $10 or maybe $12 was when I suddenly made less impulse purchases. But yea, not sure where the limit will actually be where product starts sitting but doesn’t seem as if we have reached it at this point. People seem to be flush with cash, impulsive, and bored these days.

honestly, im pretty excited about this!

at first glance, the price seems like a bit much, but I calculated it out, and it\'s fairly reasonable. you\'re paying around 4.50$ for the packaging according to my research (104.99-4.50=100.49). then, you\'re paying for tyrannocon\'s retooled head, which is around 7$ (100.49-7=93.49).

now here\'s where it gets a little tricky, JP93 is a completely new mold, but not the first. at first glance, you may think of him as a deluxe, but he\'s probably more voyager sized (or may have a similar parts count to a voyager) like how maverick was leader size and price, or how gigawatt was deluxe at voyager price.

    for this, I have priced JP93 at 31.99 (93.49-31.99+61.50)

now, we subtract the base figure price for tyrannocon, which is 52.99 (61.50-52.99=8.51)

we are left with 8.51$ (give or take the box price as i could not find an exact), which i presume is either A; profit, or B; used to pay Universal for the Jurassic park trademark

is it still expensive? yes. but is it worth it? also yes
