Absolutely happy to help! Just don't sand it too much, just a little bit! Otherwise you might get gaps between the eye and the hole, which isn't ideal. Also make sure you give your topcoat enough time to set, at least 4-5 hours.

 

I’m not normally one who does custom work but damn this figure has a dead eye. I had to paint it. Thankfully I have Gundam markers sitting around.

 

Where did you get those decepticon logos from? Those are a of design I haven't seen before, like a counter-part to my avatar

Hey, any chance light still get through, to even some small extent? Like if you put a flashlight behind him does the paint get a smidge brighter?

I ask because I’m thinking of doing something similar, but I wonder if a thin coat might allow directed light to still light up the optic.

 

Light comes through, but only if it's extremely intense and directly behind it. Even without paint on it, it barely lights up with bright, room lighting.

 

I couldn’t get any light to come through when it was unpainted unless I placed a led directly to the back of his head.

Has anyone who’s painted the eye discovered that the main head can be easily pushed off?



At least on mine, the head is just held together by friction. Pulling on the head just right doesn’t require a lot of force & will make painting easier.

Granted I think you might need to be careful going putting it back on once painted, since it’d be easy to scratch off, requiring you to paint again.

Got the normal version today finally, my EX version and Shackwave are stuck with USPS somewhere, which is really pissing me off since they all should have arrived last week. Anyways, look who's got the power of the glow:


I guess this disadvantage at this scale is limited space for light up features, which as I've said before, if anyone should light up, its shockwave. But yeah, disappointed only one has a chest light and the other has an arm light, but not both, and neither have a head light.


My other minor quibble with this is that without the stand mount in place, he has the big hole in the front of his grip. But otherwise, neat little guy, my other two versions better show up soon!

 

Now get the clear one and light up its ding-dong.

 

I consider the EX to be the toon. Others disagree. What’s the consensus?
