    Not Hound - It's Roughstuff.

And can I just say, how pleased I am with this series using Micromasters as actual full size characters. So much potential there.

The other two are Trickdiamond and Headlock.

His 80s art is better than some modern artists.

Hol up is Hound doing stuff in IDW 2.0? Stuff that Hound fans would enjoy more than the little cameos and backseat roles he always gets? I might have to jump on if that's the case.

Computron even appeared for the first time in a millennia alongside a Thunderwing that talks. If IDW could focus more on characters that have rarely gotten focus on that would be great.

Beautiful art on the covers... Can't say I care much for the art on the inside.

Indeed. I'd really like to see them make a bit of an effort for characters that didn't get to be in the previous continuity much, or at all.
Somewhere, someone out there had that toy as a child, and it was their favorite. For decades they were waiting patiently for this character to finally get some love and attention, only to see them brutally eaten alive by Insecticon clones.

Also sheesh, Insecticon Clone swarm again. Somebody get the robotic insectiside.

I hate when they use obscure characters for cannon fodder. A big part of why people like the comics in the first place is because they turned obscure characters into main characters.

I really wish the principle of "Somebody's Favourite" was rediscovered, remember when TF writers had to invent additional characters to die unless they got the nod from Hasbro?
I know, I know that wasn't perfect either but of late it seems that the modern writers pet characters (sometimes author surrogate/self-inserts) get better narrative treatment than historic TFs "Oh! *Named character* just got killed - look at the stakes, no one is safe!" Er, I'd believe that if said character had actually had some lines & scenes grounding and establishing them in their own right, and giving me a reason to give a damn besides "Hi, then die".

The way I see obscure characters is not whether they live or die but how much face time they get. An obscure character who appears on several pages across several issues but dies has more face time than an obscure character who only appears in a few panels of one or two issues but lives.

My personal gripe is when artists create completely new generics or new minor characters when there are so many existing toys who have yet to appear in fiction as a character. I'd rather see such a character show up only to die than to not be used at all. I suppose killing off characters stems from when Transformers was an advertisement for the toys - when the toys were no longer on the toy shelves, many characters in the cartoon and comic had to be written out of the story to allow for the new characters; usually by killing them off or just quietly not using them again with no storyline reason.

So I don't have Battle Gaia, but I think its sad how neglected that team has become. Sure they are a simple repaint of the Combaticons but they've very barely been used in fiction. So even if they were to return only to be treated as cannon fodder, at least they returned. Because of how obscure they are, they are easily nobody's favorite character or team.

If I were to write a Transformers comic book and needed to kill off characters, I'd go with the most obscurest characters I can find.
