I don\'t give a crap about the heli being off. The Hands ARTICULATE! Such a damn flaw on an awesome Blackout figure.
He definitely looks better, and i wish there was an oversized version with a slightly more accurate stallion. (Without the lame "the bottom it's a playset" thing) But that'll do it. The yellow around the windows it's much better too.
After watching the review and comparison with Blackout I can see where the budget for the hands came from. I didn't realize Ravage was so much smaller and less complex than Scorponok. They most likely took the plastic and assembly time difference between Scorponok and Ravage and applied it to the hands. What this means is that if they ever do a reissue of Blackout that still comes with Scorponok and I don't believe he will have the improved hands. But Hasbro does not typically do reissues anyway. Maybe a premium version of Blackout down the line without Scorponok?
This is the first time I've seen any CG art for Grinder. It's nice to see that ILM took the time to redesign the chest for the box art.
Damn I think I like this more than blackout lol, I was not too into grinder back then and was just meh about the reveal but after seeing the pics, I think this is a must for me, glad though I have articulate hands for my blackout but these are still killer
im gonna get this guy and use him as blackout and use the mpm blackout thats coming as grindor, the ol' switcheroo
@Barricade34, when did you order Grindor from Ebay and how long did it take to arrive? I just ordered something from that seller and I hope it will be soon.
Oh, man! I did not really plan on getting him, but I just saw PrimeVsPrime's Video... kinda won me over to be honest. And also I am sucker for ROTF - especially the forest battle.
What makes Scorponok more complex than Ravage? They both have 6 parts, and if anything Ravage has better articulation.
I'm only judging by PvP's review because I have not handled either figure, but I can see at least 2 pins and one screw on Scrorponok and Ravage appears to have zero pins or screws and assembles with ball joints and maybe a snap fit. Pins and screws need to be installed with tools and Ravage's legs just pop on by hand so less assembly time for Ravage. Scorponok is also significantly larger so more plastic volume required = more cost. NRE (Non Recurring Expenses) costs in a toy factory would be the tooling for the plastic parts as well as any fixtures required for assembly. Assembly fixtures for inserting pins and paint masks for applying paint. The recurring expenses per figure would be the cost of material (plastic pellets, pins, screws, rivets, etc.) and the big one is assembly time. So if it takes less material and assembly time to make Ravage, they can take the cost delta and apply it to the assembly time required for the new articulated hands. that's just my guess but it sounds logical to me.
I’m replying hella late but since I’m in Los Angeles it took a whole week since ordering, it shipped 3 days prior to paying for it.
I ordered one for myself as well a couple days ago (6/23). Lmk when you get yours and which general area you’re in. I’m in the Cincinnati area
Did anyone else order the Grindor from the listing? Did your tracking number work? I think I was given the wrong tracking info
Honestly shocked there's nothing that's been posted about this guy in over 3 weeks. I'm stoked for him, he may have only been in the movie for less than a minute but he's done enough for me to remember him.
Well, I think everything that should have been said about him has already been said. I guess we came to the conclusion that if you want a properly scaled Grindor with the SS line, go for the OS KO ver. of Blackout. If the scale doesn't bother you, it's still a very good mold, and it comes with a little Ravage and don't have to buy an upgrade kit to fix the hands. If you didn't get Blackout and/or 2009 legends Ravage , these are good alternatives for both. Personally, I'm considering buying it just for Ravage and reselling Grindor after, 'cause I already have Blackout with the DNA kit, and for the scale I prefer the OS KO, for the same reason I still don't have a AOE Grimlock xd
Fair enough. Lol I just thought more people would have posed action shots with their copies like with other figures. And honestly? I'm kind of burnt out on Oversized figures. I'll just use my 07 Voyager Blackout to scale with this guy. And I missed out on the OG SS-BO, and after market prices are a pain. Lmao
Reviving this thread to point out the recently revealed MPM Blackout was definitely a scrapped commander class Grindor lol tell me otherwise
