I got my SS from Childrens Palace @ Randal Park Mall (now a Amazon DC), SW and TT i got from Woolworths the following summer ('86) alone with Hound, & Bluestreak due to them being on clearnce @ $5 apiece! I thought I hit the lottery that day lol. I remember it being hard to decide on which 2 Autobots to grab as I only had 20 buck( thanks Mom for payin the taxes).

Lucky you! I came for SS but I hadn't realized he was like 12 bucks or something. I had only saved 7 which I think was the price of the cars (I could be wrong on those numbers because it was a looooong time ago). Long story short, my mom "taught me a lesson" by refusing to front me the money I needed for SS. And as a kid, there was no way I was walking away from there without a transformer. So Hound became my first transformer and I've spent my adult life collecting SS and variants to make up for that initial disappointment lol

My man. Children's Palace which was huge and why we never needed a Toys R US, Lionel Kiddie City, and Best were also good toy spots. I think inside the mall there were 2 hobby shops on the first and second floor, only ever really went to the one next to JCPEnny's.
I think my mother got me Ratchet and Trailbreaker from Woolworth's downtown for $5.99 a piece in 84. Damn we're old enough to remember when Cleveland wasn't completely garbage.:lol

My first autobot car was Prowl, bought at a K-Mart on Erie Boulevard Syracuse/Dewitt NY... Long gone now. It was 10 dollars for an autobot car there.. I remembered because my mother did give-in after begging and pleading. 12 sounds about right for the seekers, they were more expensive than the cars.

It's amazing hearing all these Transformers stories after all these years. And most of us still remember the circumstances.

I got G1 prime August of 84 from my hobby shop. Every other G1 was from Montgomery Wards or Best. Best was where i got G1 Devy gift set, Wards was where i got my first Seeker Thunder-cracker.

My ignore button seems to have already beaten me to the punch and taken care of this one, yet it still hungers for more...

Eagerly awaiting my 13th TT MP seeker but while we’re passing the time reminiscing, my most memorable G1 purchase was Jetfire. Back in ‘85 while opening birthday cards at my birthday party I realized I received enough birthday cash to buy Jetfire so I had my dad take me to TRU during the party to get my holy grail. Still have it, and a few others (mix of vintage, reissues, repro boxes, and ko’s).

WHOA! Nice display of G1! Reminds me of another display that I've seen where it's modeled after a store toy aisle - old peg walls and everything (someone help me recall who it was). Wasn't around during the 80s but I've been captivated by that time's aesthetics - especially that old G1 Takara packaging! I did receive a TT G1 Optimus Prime as a gift when I was little in the late 90s (this was in Hong Kong, so I would imagine it was still available in specialty toy shops), but being so young I had no idea what it was or how to appreciate it

Going back on topic, I'm looking forward to mp-52's arrival. C'mon TT! Where's the transformation demo video??

That’s a custom I got off eBay. It’s quality though.
