Animated at least used U.S. actors guild for voice work. Luckily, David Kaye had moved to Los Angeles and switched guilds around that time. But Garry, Scott and Co. were and are still members of the Canadian actors guild. Unfortunately, productions are country locked when using guilds so, Animated being a US production, resulted in U.S. actors.

I don't think there is anything preventing them from acting together for non contract work, though. Or if you got them all in the same convention for a script reading.

Idk mate their voices still sound very dodgy even if the directing was shit.

Indeed. Yes, the voice acting there can be a little cringey too at times. But overall, I at least derived some pleasure from watching it all the way through. Gone were the stale, stodgy pontifications about war and crap. Instead, they show battles like you did with your toys back when you were young. And yes, Optimus is war-weary in Cyberverse too...but he's also not getting his ass handed to him or talked back to every time he turns around, either. I'd posit that if Cyberverse had ditched the radio-voice Bee in the first season and doubled the animation budget from the beginning, we'd have the best Transformers cartoon since Animated.

War For Cybertron is what I always THOUGHT I wanted. But Cyberverse is what I TRULY want from a Transformers cartoon.

Cyberverse is sooo good. When I started watching it the first time, I assumed it was going to be just another Machinima series. But boy was I wrong. Just... Cyberverse Rules!

oh they are. I'm not even debating that these are terrible performances. But if they walked in the booth, did one take and the director said "yep, nailed it" and then on top of that, slowed it down and screwed with the pitch in post, it's going to be terrible. To be honest, I wouldn't be shocked if all the voice actors did their recordings on their own equipment and sent em in.

At the end of the day, the person putting their name on the whole package is responsible for everything within the whole package. People can lambast the voice acting, but the writing and animation are also really bad. I found it hard to find anything worth praising about the first 2 seasons and season 3 somehow seems like it might be worse.

I could point out works where the VA's in this show give far stronger performances to show just how badly they are getting directed in this, and it's not necessarily a testament to their personal talent.

The Maximals all appear to be based on their Beast Wars forms and not the Kingdom ones?

3D animation isn’t my cup of tea at all. This isn’t necessarily a criticism of Cyberverse as it is 3D animation in general. To me, it looks soulless and clunky.

With regards to writing and voice talent, I’ll use the same argument I did for The Clone Wars: if the first season sucked, why should I bother with more of the show? I have to wait an entire season for the writing and voice talent to improve? That’s a big red flag that the show runner has no idea what they’re doing

Earthrise had its moments, but the WFC series has by far the worst Optimus Prime portrayal in recent memory. Devoid of any emotion other than brief “tough guy growl” and “boring pontificating deadpan.”

Hasbro got what they paid for. Peter Cullen and Frank Welker won’t live forever so I’m fine with it not being their voices, even if it’s G1 inspired. But at least put some effort in it

Hey I get it, but still--that's no fun. You'll miss out on a lot of good things that way. Most things in life take time to "come into their own" so-to-speak. Y'ain't gon' have no fun if you're so quick to jump ship!

To each their own, but a full season is more than enough time to give a show a chance. Most people abandon ship after a few episodes.

    Agents of SHIELD; another example

I will wait until I can see the Japanese version. Prime is voiced by the G1 VA in Japan.

Bear in mind that Combiner Wars ended with Starscream turning into a giant floating head cloud thing that screams and shoots lasers. Prime, Megatron, Windblade, and the show by extension took that incredibly seriously despite how obviously stupid it was if you stop and think about it for two seconds.

Cyberverse Season 1 was really good - and some episodes are excellent. It happens to be more character work and stage setting though. If that's not your thing, that's fine.

Having watched Cyberverse multiple times now, I think watching it out if order can help your first time through. Season 2 is punchier, more fun, and more plot driven. Watch it first. Then circle back to Season 1 for some character and world building. Then strap in for one of the most exciting Transformers seasons of your life with Season 3.

I consider Cyberverse the best show since G1 left the air.

You've made posts praising Transformers Prime, the poster child of bad showmanship, and you want to call someone else a troll for liking something?

Well, a Hasbro-Takara animation collaboration isn't totally out of the question. They made one before, and Armada was pretty darn solid. Energon ruined it though, to your point.

I think Hasbro is way, way too concerned about bottom dollar these days at the expense of it affecting their product quality. Sure, Hasbro is a business. Sure, businesses need money. Part of a business is retaining your repeat customers (aka "the fanbase", whether it's collectors or the kids). Don't assume that your fanbase will be loyal to you no matter what product you throw out into the market, including fiction.

Maybe what I want is just a really freaking solid Transformer OVA, or series of OVAs. To get back on topic, that's kind of what I was hoping for WFC. Alas, no.

Yeah, as someone who generally likes 2D animation better, it would be really nice to see something like that come back again. Last time we had a 2d TF show was Animated, a decade ago
