Sylvie certainly is an enigma, she really didn’t reveal much about her self or her motives in this new episode. It is almost as if she really isn’t Loki?
Seems to me that she is, but she’s tired of being associated as such… or something like that. She doesn’t appear to be a fan of the TVA’s meddling.
This was probably the strongest episode so far in my opinion as there was so much mystery and intrigue being dangled in front of the viewer inviting them to come up with wild theories about what is really happening here. That description of how to get information out of people by enchanting them is suspicious as hell and the TVA are not above telling some lies too so who is being honest and who is being manipulative here is going to become extremely complicated.
Spoiler "Love is a dagger. It's a weapon to be wielded far away, or up close. You can see yourself in it. It's beautiful, until it makes you bleed. But ultimately, when you reach for it, it isn't real. Love is an imaginary dagger."
Yeah she is disrupting the time stream, but why? For what purpose? I suppose they will reveal that later I guess? I think it is weird they were talking about their families in such different ways, even though they should technically be the same people to some degree? I guess I get this vibe she isn't exactly who she says she is...
She probably had a very different life, given some of the dialog it gives the impression she branched off the main timeline a lot earlier than 2012 Loki. Plus, given some of the rules set up in the first episode, she kind of has to be who she says she is because she has the temporal aura of a Loki variant according to the TVA, unless they were lying
As of now, I thought this was a mediocre episode to be honest. Spoiler If they follow through on the twist next week that Loki or Sylvie enchanted the other than that would be a good zigzag and would retroactively make this episode stronger. But as of right now, this episode didn't really do it. It had great FX and design, that's undeniable. The slow building of the relationship between Loki and Sylvie worked well too. Spoiler The reveal that the TVA agents are all brainwiped Variants was great as well. But ultimately, this episode was kind of dull and felt dragged out. We're at the 50% point of the show now; for installment 3 out of 6, this felt like wasted time. Spoiler Loki getting that drunk and ruining their plan wasn't the suave, manipulator we've known from the prior films either. This is a specific instance of where a "Loki enchanted Sylvie" scenario would instantly make that work. But still, why not do that reveal at the end of the episode and end on a better hook for next week? Personally, I felt zero tension or intrigue when the ark was destroyed as this one ended; we know they'll both survive somehow, and it's not the kind of question which peaks your intrigue
Definitely the weakest episode of not only Loki, but all the MCU shows so far. A few pieces of info here and there, but most of it came across as filler. I found myself bored.
Maybe it's intentional, he did say in the first episode something along the lines of everyone expecting him to be untrustworthy, which makes people trust in his untrustworthyness which can then be manipulated.
Maybe. Spoiler Maybe it's all a smokescreen so Sylvie (who he's really conning) will think he's a terrible schemer and let down her guard. But the episode ends at a weird cliffhanger so it was like there was very little payoff for this episode by itself. I wish there was some kind of reveal at the end.
He's had a lot of shit thrown at him, he's working with/against another Loki, and he's generally out of his element.
He’s also developing feelings for Enchantress, and those sorts of feelings can make people act differently. EDIT: It’s also worth noting that in the span of a week his entire life has been shaken multiple times. The foundations for his beliefs have been ripped out from under him twice now. Thats enough to break someone.
