I just go by my retailer. They say keep the junk bot and they will send a new one for the cost of shipping.

Hopefully "shipping" will not be 50 bucks.

My best guess would be $20-30, but honestly that beats sending it back. Then I'd be out shipping and have no figure to show for it. Kinda hard to vilify the retailer though, can't truly expect them to eat the shipping costs. It's not like these places are huge like Amazon and can offer free returns.

Well retailers shouldn't pass the buck entirely to the customers either. I would argue in this case they are abetting bad companies.

I don't think charging for shipping while telling you to keep the old figure is passing the buck to the customer. If you wanna get down to it, XTB should be shipping these to customers direct. Just as long as you provide proof of purchase from a proper vendor. That said, it is what it is and this is the best course of action based on the options given. I could have returned it for a refund, but lose out on both shipping paid and return shipping or I can keep it and bnb just pay shipping for a new one. The other good thing here for me is that I have other preorders through this retailer and can bundle the new locke with an existing order to save on shipping

The old figure is garbage. Keeping it does not benefit the customer.

If I pay X for a figure, I expect something in good condition, not garbage. If I have to pay additional money, then the actual cost of the figure is X + 20/30/40, and should have been communicated upfront.

There are 3 parties here: customer, retailer, and manufacturer. Out of the 3, the one that's clearly not at fault is the customer. Retailers and XTB should work it out among themselves on how to make the customer whole.

My friend who bought this figure said that if he's forced to pay for shipping, he will not use this particular retailer ever again. So yeah, the retailer will not lose money this time, he'll just lose future business. Winning!!! And last but not least, he will not buy any XTB figure ever again. More winning!!!

It’s kinda grandiose to call it a reissue. Maybe a top to bottom part replacement or 2nd attempt!

Agreed but I think it is P&P at this point. XTB is not new to this behavior considering the previous issue with Ollie 2nd version. I am hoping this is the general consensus that TFS-Express will follow. I don't think they would cover my shipping and the new bot and if I had to pay to send the bot back first that would leave a bitter taste as well. It's overall a very sh1tty situation. I will feel like I have more value if I get to keep both and I only have to pay $20. I will still feel sh1tty because XTB sh1t the bed yet again. Right now this hobby is on life support waiting for FT POs and the occasional Not Zeta combiner.

I can understand not buying an XTB figure again, but if they wanna blacklist the retailer then that is pretty petty on their part. Regardless of what XTB sent out, every retailer has a return policy that can be read at anytime. If I were to look at my retailers return policy I would see that returns must be paid for by the customer. I was given that option an passed because for me, it just doesn't make sense. I am also talking about a chinese retailer here, so things like returns are much different than they would be for an american retailer where the cost of return shipping is much lower. I also have one other angle I am looking at this from. I was able to purchase Locke for $99 and have it shipped with other stuff so that the total shipping wasn't as expensive. Most american retailers were charging $160 I believe (can't remember if it was 160 or 180). So even with having to pay for shipping on a new figure, I will still be paying less than if I were to have bought it from someone like BBTS or TCP. My 1st copy isn't complete trash either, I managed to transform him to and from alt mode without breakage. So at worst it will be in alt mode or be used for parts/customs.

For info, I sent mine back to TFS-Express and got a refund.

I messaged them and they said I need to purchase the reissue and they'll cover my postage costs. I'm in the UK, and bought from the UK site, so they'll cover the UK postage costs.

Not sure whether the same applies for international buyers from the Chinese site, but at least you have an idea of how this is being managed.

To be honest, the only thing that might go wrong for me is if the reissue is more expensive. It appears I just have to eat any increase just because I got a refund initially (had I not done so, I'd get it free. If I'ddone nothing at all, I'd get it free, plus postage). That sucks, especially as I used the refund to pay in full for the 'imminent' Virtus that had to be paid in full... but I can see their side here too. So long as any price increase is around the cost of postage, I'm not exactly out much. If it's 20 quid, I'll be a bit pissed off.

I asked TFS Express after I received my order.

They told me to keep the original and the replacement will just cost me shipping once they have stock.

I did say I was happy to return the version I currently have but they said there was no need. That said it's still boxed and wrapped in plastic just in case I end up needing to return it if their plans change.

So, it’s been two weeks since my encounter with the XTB brown-nosers and I just wanted to show some receipts on this. Because XTB can’t even toe the party line from one comment to the next.

For those that haven’t been following, another member suggested that XTB start up an official “pre-order” replacement list for current Locke owners. I repeated this suggestion. Like clockwork, a few of their cheerleaders showed up to make a bunch of dumb comments - which all start with “Uhhh…” or “Umm” for some reason, because the internet apparently makes some adults revert back into 14-year old virgins - and when I pushed back to hold XTB to their words, they pretty much fell apart in a few hours.

Because while they were telling me to email them (which I’ve done more times than I can count) they told another customer who basically asked the same thing to contact their retailer.

I contacted XTB and they said to contact my retailer. Did so, and TCP added me to a list of users to get a replacement Locke when they become available. Hoping it’s a no-cost replacement — I’ll cancel outright if I have to pay retail for a replacement. No discussion with XTB or TCP about sending the defective one back, either, though he’s all packed up to ship back if I gotta.

I’ve asked them about this so many times and the moment I mention that I bought it from an Ebay dealer, the conversation usually just ends.

There’s just no reason for me to keep shopping with them until (if) it’s handled.

Don’t shame me because I was born with no game and didn’t understand what the teacher was talking about in health class!…Oh, this isn’t a personal attack. Move on, nothing to see here.

I once made a joke similar to this on here and a user (who, just to be clear, I didn’t tag and don’t remember even having previously talked to) got really angry with me about it.

There’s outing yourself and then there’s XTB-complaining-about-copyright-infringement-on-Locke outing yourself… This was the latter.

I'm more worried that, after reading through that FB thread, I noticed someone asked if it would be metallic and XTB said something along the lines of 'we'll see'. Jesus, I hope not. That's not what I ordered at all.
