Thanks everyone. A variety of factors I guess. I either got a bad lot, or something I can’t pinpoint is contributing to the yellowing of mine. I live in Germany, and the weather has not been above 70 degrees all year here, humidity isn’t a factor either. Only thing I can think of is when my wife and I cook, and the smoke that can come from that, but the figure is about 25 feet away. The yellowing isn’t too bad, just something disappointing that I’ve noticed.

How fragile is Netflix Bumblebee and er cliffjumper chest. I suppose there would not ve any issue if that parte is loose, unlike Jazz back, the datsuns legs or tracks

Hasn't the roof of Jazz car mode always been painted clear plastic? My memory might be failing me, but it seems like most of the G1 cars were done that way too.

In any case it doesn't seems like a logical reason to skip the figure. I've got 86 Jazz and Rts Jazz both have painted plastic roofs. I've transformed them both several times with no issues(knock on wood).

Has this problem continued? Is the yellowing uniform? If so I'd like to send you my Sunstreaker to display next to your Jazz for a few months. It won't solve your problem, but it would help me out.

I now have 2 copies of SS86 Jazz. The windshield on the 1st one cracked after several transformations. I then bought a second copy on sale. Out of the box, I saw the windshield already had a small crack. The issue is that the windshield panel is too large for the hood panel, thus cracking under pressure. So IMHO, this is a known defect. G1 clear plastic was thicker than this crap!

Here's mine. I feel like everything lines up pretty well, and I haven't felt like anything needs forced. Can you show me a pic of where they break? Just in case I can use extra caution there. Maybe I just got lucky with mine.

Honestly I don't remember the G1 clear plastic being all that sturdy lol. I was always pretty careful with my Transformers, but all my carbots had at least some minor issue, usually with the clear plastic bits.

You have a small crack too. Between the 2 darker blue thingys inside the windshield. Do you not see it? I'll take pics later.

20210624_094216.jpg Left one is newer and was like this out of the box. Right one is from February. 20210624_094333.jpg Closer shot of the second copy. Out of the box cracked. I only transformed this once. In fact, I think the crack is longer now! 20210624_094505.jpg Closer shot of first copy. This is how far it cracked after maybe 5 transformations and trying to put toyhax labels on.

My SS86 is still fine and I have zero fear of clear plastic parts because I’ve never had a problem.

Do you think clear plastic will hold up in the long term? Or will we see datsuns and rotorstorms without legs as well as jazz and cliffjumper without windshields at ebay in 5 or 10 years?

LOL. Most likely not. I would imagine it'll be hard to find mint uncracked Jazzes in 10 years.

I can't speak for the other figures because I haven't opened them yet. But for those that say your Jazz is fine, I suggest you look closely, in between the 2 darker tabs on the lower windshield and report back.

My Jazz is fine but I've only transformed him twice... Maybe three times at most. My bots mostly stay in bot mode. Clear plastic sucks but its use in these toys is not going away anytime soon.

I’ve collected WFC for the past year and only breakage issue I’ve had isn’t with clear plastic, but with Kingdom Megatron’s shitty plastic.

i'm posting in this thread to just vent how much i disagree with it. material properties are a known thing to the design engineers i'm sure. clear plastic can and is used properly in TF figures when it is properly designed in. being a one piece clear roof with paint saves on material cost, and labor cost and probably makes the busienss case for this to be made much better! if they greenhouse of the car was opaque...sorry ain't buying it. that would not only look cheap but also look aesthetically bad on anything bigger than legends size. clear plastic forever!!! also i think there have been very few breakages due to any brittleness or weakness of the clear plastics in the WFC line. we just need to handles these things like we're older than 8 years old and 99% of the time we'll be fine. IMO that is acceptable.

I don't think mine is a crack, but I'll double check when I get home. Think it's a mold line underneath or a trick of the light. Yours goes all the way down into the white. Did you realize when it happened, or notice it after the fact? I've been pretty darn cautious with mine, so if it is a crack that's definitely disappointing.

Noted. Zoom in with your camera phone and take a pic to make sure. On my 1st copy, no cracks. It developed and got longer after several transformations. On my 2nd one, as soon as I opened the box, I checked the windshield and it had a small crack was already there. I only transformed him once and it got bigger. Yes, very disappointing.

I'd like to see a return to solid plastic pieces with clear plastic insets. Not going to happen as long as we worship the god of every-toy-has-exactly-four-molds-with-equal-numbers-of-parts-because-reasons.

Anyway, it's just funny how fans are always wrong about everything. If they complain about some detail not being right, along comes a chorus to shout "shut up! toy are for kids!" but when there's something that would detract from a kid's experience, like easily broken parts or not being able to roll, that chorus quickly switches to "shut up! they're adult collectibles!"
