I think Hasbro is hitting their peak with 84 Optimus Prime’s. I’m ready for new takes on other versions.

 

I’d rather take a new Super Ginrai/Powermaster Prime at Commander Class rather than just ER Prime with a few new parts/trailer.

 

Screw it, if I'm paying CC price I want PowerMaster Prime!

Core bot ER Prime with fixed proportions. Powered up Convoy, about eye to eye with SS86 Grimlock.

 

I'd be game and buy 2 then. One for the cab robot and one for powered up. Unless he has Grey elbows and such.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like 20th anniversary (MP-01?) Optimus Prime would be exactly what you’re looking for.

The fact that Hasbro HASN'T released a commander G1 Op yet is the only surprise to me lol.

40th Anniversary is only 3 years away and it seems plausible that the most revered character in the franchise would get a Commander or hell even Titan class budget at some point.

Hell, even Rodimus is pushing it.

 

I would definitely buy a Commander Class Powermaster OP, as long as came with the Apex armor (aka God Bomber). If they are going to give us figures from the post-Beast era, a Commander Class RID Prime (Super Fire Convoy) would be great , or the long rumored Armada Prime (which at least made it to the prototype stage) WITH a new trailer/base.

 

Man, over half the posts are "this will never happen, stupid." No one asked you to predict the future, guys. The thread subject is, what would you want in a Commander 84 OP. IMHO, "They'll never make one" is an off-topic post.

To me, a Commander OP would just be a type of "soft masterpiece." I'll start making requests, that are already satisfied by the MP versions, and before long we'll shoot past $80 and have a $120+ figure. And if not, it just won't have everything I want. But here goes:

* As mentioned earlier, 20% taller than ER OP
* Ion Blaster
* Jetpack
* Axe
* Roller
* Trailer with a quality deco and stowage spots, enough space for 2 Sideswipes to park inside.
* Repair drone
* Proper back section (match cartoon if possible)
* Optional recolored parts to swap for legs and certain other bits

Doesn't need to go totally nuts with optional head, battle damage replacement parts, obscure accessories that were in 1 episode, Starscream head, etc. Just do ER OP again but bigger and better. Oversize KO your own figure!

Toss in a repaint of that death variant of ER Prime, minus the trailer, done up in final battle 86 movie colors, then put a similar Megatron in and you've got my boring G1 answer.

If we want something I'd actually impulse buy, a deluxe scale Optimus with parts to form some of the super modes he has over the years. Energon's drones, Godbomber, Animated's wing pack, or RID's armor would be neat.

 

I’d much rather see a new Fire Convoy done at that price point. The original is pretty tough to beat aside from the rubber tires that rot. That was such a cool period for the line and if they plan to revisit other eras, I’d love to see RID get some cool updates.

 

Sign me up for another take on G1 Optimus at the Commander price.

I think we're likely 3 years from this being possible but I hope Hasbro makes one for the 40th in 2024.

 

Why would they make a G1 Prime on Energon's 20th anniversary though?

I would prefer an RID firetruck prime that combines with an Ultra Magnus figure.
