How are they "screwing" Hasbro? Hasbro has already done unlicensed alts before (see Dino). They don't care.

Paramount prioritizes cars because that's what they control, and then Hasbro leans on the bot designs because that's what they sell toys of.

Hasbro likely is who pushed the more G1 bot designs in the Bee movie because they were easier to translate in to toys.

This whole line of reasoning is just bizarre. All because a small portion of extremely online fans demand pitch perfect accuracy?

I love Machu Pichu and went there a lot, they got me hyped for that.

 

The entire idea of scourge is so appealing to me and this movie I feel like will give him his proper character hopefully

 

Bay is not bad at all. You just can't let him lay his c*ck in the script and just put him to direct action scenes, and then put someone later to take the power rangers sparks and the excessive explosions off

 

I'm actually pretty excited with the news I've heard so far. But I also understand some peoples' concerns about this being another Michael Bay... ahem... shindig. I also look forward to the toys too!

Plus, Travis Knight was quoted saying Bay pretty much let Knight do whatever he wanted.

Like if you watch Bumblebee, it's fairly clear Bay had little influence on the film.

Is it Bumblebee movie/G1 like?
Or is it Bayverse style?
Or is it mixing everything? At least Scourge sounds good to me when he's from UT and takes stuff from tfp Predaking. If they use many continuities to inspire things here and make new stuff instead of getting stuck in G1 I'll be happy

I don't think they think in terms of "Bayverse" or any "-verse", to be honest. I don't think they even think in terms of having a singular vision of what Transformers movies or the story, or continuity and mythology is.

They just know they have an extremely fractured fanbase and a very negatively predisposed and disinterested general audience. But Transformers is too valuable to be put to rest.

So that explains why they go neither full G1, nor full Bayverse, nor full Beast Wars. Either option will lose them big portions of the fanbase and is either too risky or too safe for the broader market. So, they just pick and choose parts of things that seem to do well on their charts, based on toy sales and online buzz and throw it all together into a movie, hoping that will 1) please most of the fanbase even a little bit and at the same time, 2) be bonkers enough to catch the attention of the normie again.

That's the big plan that they had years to think about and decide for the future of the franchise. *slow clap*

Ahahaha what? Excuse me? This is real?! I was sure they were gonna go the safe route with a vanilla G1 movie. This sounds so insane that I can't help but respect it. Many transformers stories these days feel like retreads so I'm stoked to see something wacky again.

I'll echo @SPLIT LIP's sentiment and say I'm anticipating this to be either spectacular or a spectacular disaster lol

Lorenzo also produced The Iron Giant, it doesn't mean that he was great because he did a few good things, and a load of garbage.

 

I can't see like this. I mean, they'd be making everyone happy in a way. Going full something is stupid, then they lose big proportions of the community

 

If that producer is Lorenzo di Bonaventura, I wouldn't put too much stock into what comes out of his mouth. I'm half convinced they just stick him in a back room with a sippy cup and a baggie full of animal crackers while the people who actually matter get to work.
