‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ Revealed at Glitchy Virtual Event

A director who watched and liked Beast Wars. Hopefully, it'll show in the movie.

 

You do know that most wars aren’t just 1 faction against 1 faction right? And it seems very obvious that it’s maximals are allies of Autobots and predacons are allies of decepticons. There’s been multiple factions since the very start of the franchise.

 

i'm not a beast wars fan but setting this on earth is all kinds of wrong you know it will be centred more around the humans . shame

 

Ironically it sounds like TLK just with G1 designs thrown in.

 

It's hard not to get excited, but I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic. Right now, it sounds like... A lot. Maximals, Predacons, Terrorcons and Autobots on top of that?

I'll be looking forward to seeing more.

 

Because Hasbro and Paramount are supposed to be partners in this, and the key aspect of a partnership is the partners cooperate. When one partner screws the other, it's no longer a partnership.

Anyway, the haters are descending in force now, I think it's time to bail on this thread.

 

As long as Michael Bay stays the hell away from Transformers I'll be cautiously on board...

 

Doesn't sound like this is a dedicated Beast Wars movie, more like bayverse style stuff with some beast characters incorporated and a couple holdover designs from Bumblebee. Hopefully the director keeps it more in line with Bumblebee/Knightverse.

• The producer specifically said this was more in the style of the large-scale Bay movies than the character-focused Bumblebee.
• The beasts don't actually have organic looking alt-modes. They're robotic animals with some fur or feathers incorporated for....visual flair, I guess. Primal is said to be pretty similar to that old The Last Knight bayverse concept.
• The predacons aren't even the primary antagonists, they're second fiddle to a new group called the Terrorcons led by a TFPrime Predaking/Scourge equivalent. No mention of Beast Megatron or the other Preds.
• Will the Maximals get time to shine when they've got G1 characters still in the spotlight like Prime, Bumblebee and Arcee? Are the maximals just supporting/side characters? Is this just the Bayverse Dinobots all over again?

It seems to me more like an introduction to the beast concept and some of the characters than an actual Beast Wars movie. This story doesn't seem to belong to the beasts, nor adapt their BW story at all. But maybe if this movie turns out well they can spin off the beasts into their own dedicated side series while letting Prime and the rest of the G1 cast do their own thing. Perhaps that is already the intent, who knows. "Rise" could be their introduction, with "Wars" to follow later.

Either way it doesn't seem like this is the Beast Wars movie I was hoping for. Especially not when Lorenzo is still pretending this is in bayverse continuity instead of embracing the reboot that hasbro is apparently already on board with and announced regarding bumblebee. Lorenzo's continuity line-straddling continues.

Stop pussyfootin around and just pull the trigger, lorenzo! Hasbro already considers Bumblebee a new universe, let it happen!

 

Right, probably gonna tap out of this thread soon. People are already way too willing to get hostile with each other over very little. 14 years of bratty movie fans is more than enough for me.

Cautiously optimistic, skeptical but not willing to write it off and I'm not going to get pissy with people for being perhaps a bit jaded after receiving nothing but garbage films for so long.

 

But I most agree. I mean, tf were about robots turning into vehicles, I remember people criticizing the Dinobots, dragon storm appearance and the medieval stuff bcs they had no explication or logic. Like, BOOM ROBOT DINOSSAURS!!! Then now they put 3 factions of beast formers? Many people would watch and think it's childish and stupid and ruin the reputation even more

 

In my humble opine, this sounds like it's going to be utter bollocks, leaving Bumblebee as the outlier in the ongoing TF cinematic fustercluck.

Will I go watch it anyway for big stompy robot shenanigans? More than likely. *shrug*  

 

i mean, from the little info we have it does seem there might be too much going on but i haven't seen anything that suggests the director doesn't understand transformers

 

Honestly, I think I’d rather just see Michael Bay’s series of films properly concluded. This tidbit of info seems like business as usual for modern Transformers films. At least the Beast Wars fans can share in the chaos this time.

I’m just surprised they are backpedaling on the minimal progress they made with the Bumblebee movie.

 

I'm sorry, but this thread just doesn't feel right without the input of @Autobot Burnout and @Galvatross...

 

Actually those are only Optimus and maybe Arcee til where I'm concerned. The others are not very G1 styled

While I like the sound of scourge right now, not sure how I feel about the goatee. Im hoping its more of a chin crest than a genuine goatee. Otherwise it sounds interesting

The rest sounds okay. If nothing else, we may get some fun toys
