Saw in other site that the self fix would cause the bicep covers have tiny gap. IMG_20210620_121231.jpg

I'm just gonna keep my Galvatron with the pins facing out til he's more available cause knowing my luck I'd break it. I also feel like some 3D printing add-on companies will make hole plugs for the "ugly" fix.

Thank you. The face is super easy. The paint (Citadel Shade: Nun Oil) is very forgiving and easy to work with. You can find on Amazon if you are lacking a local hobby store that stocks the brand.

For anyone wanting to perform the surgery but, concerned the key to success is flat head drivers that have thin tips that are about a quart inch wide. You want to distribute the stress points. The plastic is very flexible and will not break. Any stress lines can be taken care of with a hairdryer. You want to avoid deep mars. Those unfortunately are permanent.

I'm going to tackle that tonight with Testors ELO. I was so focused on the the shoulders and battle damage I completely forgot about it until this morning. The ankle plastic is PVC but the paint is applied differently than the battle damage. You may be able to remove the ankle paint using acetone without damaging the plastic at all. I'll update you this evening.

UPDATE: Used Rubbing Alcohol to remove the battle damage on one leg. It took about 5 minutes to get it completly clean. Rub it on, let it set, wipe it off, repeat. ELO took about 20 seconds. The paint wiped right off. I did tests with Lacquer Thinner, Acetone, and Brush Cleaner. All were too volatile and marred the plastic. Best bets are Testor's ELO (preferred) or Rubbing Alcohol.

Honestly I do want to note that the plastic used on Galvatron does feel really sturdy. I did the shoulder fix and I was not gentle, that plastic flexed hard but not a single stress mark showed up.

Isopropyl Alcohol, 91% is the only way to go. You'll have to scrub and scrub, but I wouldn't recommend anything else on this plastic or this figure. Anything that's "safe" ain't gon' cut it.

Testor's ELO works better than ANYTHING I've ever used. It does absolutely nothing to harm the plastic. It's designed as a decal and tampograph print remover for traditional model kits. I've tried every solvent on the market through out the years and nothing can touch ELO. When applied to tampo printed surfaces you can watch the print crinkle up and almost slide off. There are some things that Isopropyl Alcohol, 91% simply will not remove (looking at you Marvel Legends tampo printed torso decals). If you are unfamiliar with ELO you should really check it out. You'll be be very pleasantly surprised.

And the plastic allows for any stress marks to be removed under a hair dryer in about 20 seconds

    Yeah about that shoulder fix.....

    6D0F8460-E4B0-4B6C-AA63-EFC6A8C0B7F4.jpeg

I'm a reasonably handy guy. I build furniture and even have done some plumbing and wiring fixes. I've done many DIY "improvements" to TFs through the years - Animated Shockwave's chest springs, T30 Blitzwing's shoulders and face, POTP Elita's feet... even transplanted m the LEDs from a damaged Universe Ultra Powerglide into a fixed one.

And this Galvatron shoulder fix is FUCKED UP.

Really not a happy camper. Fuck it all.
