Preordertron is more like it since i'm not actually scalping anything.

You guys better stay away from the FT Release Schedule thread if you're this mad over someone just pre-ordering stuff temporarily. :ev:

I am so happy I got a pre-order in with baba last November. The Chinse International stores like baba, Terry, and ShowZ may have difficulty with the re-issue items, but have been pretty solid with the new releases. Of course they sold-out on their POs of these figures months ago. Hopefully they'll be able to verify additional allocation soon so they can finalize their prices and possibly put a few more up for pre-order. ShowZ and baba were both very late to the Insecticon game, but both have nearly sold out of all of those figures as well. Terry even has Spindrift 2.0 on sale for less than the PO price now.
I know getting them through a North America shop would make me feel a little more secure that the PO is real, but so far I've been lucky getting these pre-orders based off silhouettes. If only I'd acted faster back in January or February of 2020 to get a Berserk PO when those were up. I know they won't hold the PO price, but at least I'd get first dibs without all the agony when he does show up.

I got four preorders for "transfer", only $50 + cost each. You know, for my time and service provided.

This poll being added makes me happy I had my buddy working at GAME to secure me a few extra consoles for reselling. See, unlike an FT figure, ps5s will keep being produced, a figure won't most of the time. I like scalping people too stupid and impatient to wait to buy a console with no games on it. I have zero guilt about doing so, I consider it a public service to scalp people desperate enough to pay that much for a console with nothing on it. Figures that are limited and niche though, nah, bad practice and you'll fuck yourself long term, soyboys desperate for a console already behind a decent pc rig specs wise that's still being produced, fair game.

I like to think I'm an ethical arsehole.

I'll have what you're having, cause I like the way you think, my friend.

    Bee2.PNG

Not gonna lie, but i've had contemplation of just saying "Fuck it" and popping onto StockX and just grabbing a PS5 from them for the extra bit of a markup. But then in the end I again say "Fuck it" and know that I have better things to do with my money, ha.

You won't get me this time, scalper!

But yeah, congrats on grabbing a couple extra PS5s from your boi, totally get wanting to make some lemonade with those lemons, so to speak. Hopefully you get yourself a good little bit from it all!

Either way, i'm fine with waiting for the new consoles a bit more. I gotta get a new TV anyway, but i'm already in the middle of, ironically enough, grabbing PC parts for my next build, so THAT, and this whole hobby, AND coming onto TFW and joining in the ensuing madness of it all is keeping me regular.

(BTW the more and more I see that poll trickle more towards FT taking the lead, the more I cringe)

Why, because it’s true? PS5’s will continue to be made for years and will fill demand eventually. FT will stop producing or create false scarcity and you won’t be able to buy it anywhere for its original price.

I think this is sort of a lukewarm take tbqh. The poll seems to imply immediacy, "or this FT figure." At present, this FT figure is leagues easier to get than a PS5, because false scarcity or no, Tesla 2.0 does not require a core section of materials currently (and potentially for the foreseeable future/forever) undergoing a massive, global supply shortage. The reality is that its "original" price is completely irrelevant, because you can always get a one of these if you really want one, even if it costs more than base. Like, yeah, it'll cost an extra $150 but at least it's around for you to get, probably. Chinese sellers will have stock loooong after domestic ones run out.

PS5s right now are like, twice what they cost in the aftermarket, and they already cost $500. The scale is pretty incomparable, especially considering there won't be anywhere in the world that just like, has extra PS5s laying around.

You're 100% correct in the fact that Sony will end up meeting demand and creating extra supply on top of that, while FT will pretty much stay stagnant for years until a reissue just happens to pop up.

But looking at your initial poll, I at least took that as asking "PRESENTLY, which is the hardest to get?" (not to mention, the poll already does kinda seem to speak in regards to the present). And for that, I believe the proof is in the pudding, my friend.

FT stuff stays in stock in some stores for at least 20 minutes to an hour at most (though of course a very good portion never even get close to numbers like that), while PS5s? Selling out faster than you can type "Fans Toys Tesla 2.0 is still in stock at Bombusbee!" and click Post. PS5s are more expensive to begin with, so already the margin for entry is less than say, a Fans Toys figure, when just looking at price. Places like TFSource and TCP may end up having their servers tank and even crash due to the load, but the comparison here is against multiple websites with WAY higher infrastructure budgets (ie: Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, etc), resulting in having astronomically higher tolerances in server load, and MUCH less of a risk of server crashes, but at the same time, letting way more wolves into the hen house. I don't see Amazon with a lot of bot protection. And that I think is the kicker. Do you see any bots going in on Fans Toys? Fuck no, that's why they're still in stock after even 5 minutes at a lot of stores.

I can keep going but I believe that pretty much says enough. Again, I mean no disrespect nor offense cause you have a very valid opinion, FT's practices are shady in the fact that we don't know their exacts and they seem to be trying to up their profits by doing some shit behind the scenes, and we're at their mercy in the end. But aside from there being a rather stark contrast when pitting it against something with an astronomically larger and more volatile market, I think there may have been a mixed message or two in regards to how we both took the question.

TLDR: Everyone still has a pretty much fair chance with Fans Toys stuff despite a lot of shit making it a living hell (ie: sites crashing), but PS5s STILL give you fuck all by comparison, I agree there's some shady shit behind the scenes with Fans Toys, but I think there may have been a discrepancy on how we both looked at the poll.

(BTW don't even get me started on the graphics cards, THAT is a whole journey of itself, PS5 and Xbox situation x10)

Damn, I knew A3U was putting up Tesla this afternoon when I left for work this morning and completely forgot about it until now.

Edit: Also...are PS5s still hard to get? I wonder how many people have followed the same path as me on gaming. I was a real Nintendo fanboy back in the 1980s and 1990s (especially after GoBots/TFs went away as I needed _something_ to plow money into). The family dabbled a little with Sega/Sony in the PSX/Saturn era but I was still more into Nintendo. However, what happened around that time was Nintendo got left behind. Publishers either didn't release their AAA games or ported them years too late to matter. I suspect they thought it would drive customers to other systems but in my case it backfired and I just stopped playing alot of AAA games. Even the Wii, with its massive popularity, was an afterthought for publishers. Now I have a Switch, I play games in spurts, and I don't even know if the PS5 is a thing or not.

It has some parallels to collecting. If you miss out often enough and start to see publishers manufacturers as uninterested, well, you'll find other ways to spend the money. And then it's like "oh, Capcom Konami Square EA Fans Toys is still a thing? and I missed preorders six weeks ago? huh. well, that's alright, I just got Jive Downbeat anyway..."

Are there any side by sides of 1.0 and 2.0? Trying to decide if I should sell my 1.0 or just cancel my 2.0 pre-order.

The ps5 is in demand but not in the same way consoles used to be. Eh, the gaming landscape has changed, or to be more exact stagnated. See, once upon a time consoles we're sold on their exclusives, psx with Final Fantasy, Saturn with the promise of sonic, N64 with Mario 64, og xbox with halo. Demand was high because of this unique attribute of the console, like the wii had supply issues due to demand and excitement, it was the next "big thing" as it had gimmicks, motion controls and family friendly content everyone could play. Currently though new gen consoles are, well, they have nothing much to offer. Sure ps4 had bloodborne, xbone had... Something, I can't remember their exclusives. But ps5/xbox x or whatever it is, well its either remasters charged at full price, usually somehow worse then the originals or multiplatform releases such as xbox and Sony exclusives releasing on pc.

The current shortage is more to do with logistic disruptions from last year still having a knock on effect. See, we use what's called a "just in time" supply chain, stockpiles deplete on materials fairly rapidly meaning there's a constantly moving supply chain. One little blip in that chain and your feeling issues months, even years later as each delay invariably causes a ripple effect. You can't effectively play catch up as prior to any delay your already operating at full speed meaning you can't fully recover until demand on something drops or you drastically increase your manufacturing capabilities, this goes not just for the consoles but the components too. Also Sony has done a few dumb things business wise such as essentially becoming a western company by moving its headquarters to the US, one of the lesser known effects of this was certain component contracts getting adjusted which compacted the supply issue further.

You'll hear how there's this shortage or that supplies are running out of something but that again isn't a shortage in the true sense of the word, components are still being made at the same rate its just their in higher demand as there's a game of catch up. These consoles rarely use unique components nowadays compared to earlier generations, its how they churn them out easily long term, it just so happens though ps5 components are used in a great many other things too, hence the console shortage.

The only reason I would get a PS5 is for their new PSVR. All the games so far looks like PS4.

Any idea when BBTS will go live with this fig for pre order?
