Not really a comment but while I was in the navy I received the Navy Achievement Medal on two separate occasions which really meant a lot to me.
"Hey, that is a nice truck you have there." I've received it multiple times for my previous truck, and my current truck. I take pride in my vehicles and keeping them looking nice. What?
A co-worker's kid stuck several pieces of bubble-yum gum in his mouth when he was in the office one day, the kid was maybe 1 1/2 yrs. old and thought it was chew candy. I walked around the corner and the kid was blue faced and not breathing. Pulling all that gum out of his mouth/throat and getting him breathing again, was cool. His dad just cried and hugged me. He didn't know what to say, and to this day those non-words still ring true.
"Wow, Pedro, I hate you." In the context of the situation, this was a compliment. It actually made me smile. "Dude! You're sister's HOT!" I consider this a compliment, because, you know, it just means I have good genes. I also get this A LOT. "God dammit, Pedro, why do you have to be so smart?" This is the one that really means a lot to me. Most of my self-esteem is built off of my view of my intelligence. All of these were recently, and at school. Strange topics pop up at the lunch table...
