I see TR/LG Hot Rod as the spiritual successor to Classics Hot Rod. Both share many design cues. In robot mode I would say that Classics wins in terms of overall proportion and design. LG is of course a newer figure and has all the articulation benefits.


Transformation is similar but I would give that win to LG, mainly because Classics has a few annoying parts like the arm sliders.

Both have excellent vehicle modes. From the front angle, I'd have to give it to Classics. A really sleek design with much more subtle design elements compared to the overdone and bulky styling of LG.


From the back though, LG beats Classics hands down. At this end, it's LG with the sleeker design with no large gaps. I really like how the robot knees become the "exhaust vents" in car mode. I have to admit that it was this design feature that finally convinced me to get LG Hot Rod.

 

I know they're not the same character but...

 

With how well ER Optimus Prime turned out (basic, crappy trailer aside), I do wonder how a new, up-to-date figure of Micron Legend Convoy done in a similar vein to ER Optimus or Kingdom Rodimus could turn out...
