If you’re planning to transform it, I would pass. Luckily, TW comes ready to combine, unlike my copy of Zeta’s Bruticon.

The Zeta set had some not-insignificant breaks, tabs which jammed, etc (most notably with Vortex) but he seems to be sitting in combined mode better than Constructor, whose joints jam and freeze just holding the same position.

This assessment is not right. Plastic quality and certain parts have changed most assuredly. The first batches were having robots cracking from the box with no handling. By the time of the Metallic set, you were unable to transform them because the plastic was changed possibly in volume as well so it had several tolerance problems and you required to file down almost everything for it to fit snuggle. Even the ratchets were

Other sets are supposedly having die cast parts (the dark one). If anything Toyworld did changes but they failed to calibrate their changes. Also most of us after fixing our issues are handling this with no problem over the years.

I can understand the disappointment and I can with all honesty, not vouch for someone to buy one of these for the going prices, but for its original price and a weekend to waste its as good as it gets. Now if TW were not AWOL with sourcing parts....

Not sure how what I said was wrong when you said the same thing, I just elaborated on why the parts are breaking. When it's the same type of break to the mounting posts then the evidence is clear.

"Nothing has changed with mold over the years" I was referring to this mostly.

I think he’s saying that a majority of the set has remained unchanged, while they have added different versions for the head, lat fillers and supposedly upgraded some problem areas, etc.

The quality of the material and design of the figures is almost exactly the same though.

Ιf we are talking design/aesthetics yes

Quality is not the same, it has major flaws and 'upgrade' differences from version to version. Scrappers shovels breaking were not universal, Bonecrushers getting frozen due to missing parts and excess plastic were not universal. Figures cracking due to thin plastic is not universal etc etc. Each version of this has received some kind of tweaks. Whether these tweaks were beneficial/caused other problems or fixed the issue, is another discussion entirely.

I think there is no doubt that the current “Perfect” set is highly flawed and probably one you want to avoid. As mentioned before mine arrived with a broken in half Scrapper (Shovel) brand new in the box. The seller got a 2nd set in so they could remove the Shovel figure from that set and ship it to me loose. Guess what? It was broken in half. They got lucky on the third set, and were able to get me one not broken in half. I’m not going to mention the seller here, but they are one of the big ones. And if they are having issues like this, good luck if you’re dealing with someone on eBay.

Someone on a Facebook group did estimate that two out of three sets arrived broken new. Based on my experiences with these sets, those numbers are spot on. So I guess the question is if you are one of the lucky 33.3% of folks who might get one new and unbroken.

    Me last week:
Me this week: Oh shit, TFSource has orange Constructor for $450? Add to cart!

It's supposed to arrive tomorrow, I guess we'll see how many of the bots are shattered to bits right in the packaging...

Make sure to check the back of Burden's (Long Haul) legs for signs of cracked screw posts. I'd also advise lubing up Burden's ankles because they were very stiff on mine and put a lot of pressure on the bottom screw posts when trying to twist the feet.

Hopefully it's fine. I wonder if it'll come in the box with foam packaging or the loser packaging people seem to have gotten with this latest Perfect edition batch. Looking forward to your post on the quality.

Has anyone figured out how to take apart Allocator's crotch area to try and fix the breaking hip issue? I transformed each of my figures when I first got my yellow set and didn't realize this was such a common problem. I figured I'd try plastic cement to basically fuse that broken part back together but I can't get the crotch area open.. it's like one of the detailed parts is super glued over the second screw hole....

Any photos in this thread that I could reference to see what the cracked screw posts might look like?

From what I understand, the orange set it packed in the clear plastic clamshell, not in foam packaging.

That still blows my mind, but hopefully it's well packaged from your seller and won't bend or jostle. Good luck!

The part that's really messed up is that in the clamshell, they don't even have a dedicated slot for every item. If I remember correctly from the photos I've seen, one of the Devastator heads is just hanging out in Scrapper's scoop - no padding, nothing to hold it in place.

Here's what mine looked like when I first opened the box, transformed it into bot mode and was inspecting for damage. You can see cracking of the same post on both legs. Those were the most obvious.
Burden Cracked Screw Holders and Plastic (both legs).JPG

After I contacted ShowZ (6 months ago!!!!!!) I decided to put rubber bands on the legs to take to the stress off the remaining posts while I waited for replacement parts, but that did not work. The left leg literally fell apart in my hand when I picked him up one day. All the posts cracked in the left leg and at least 2 are broken in the right, down near the ankle. Here's how that looks. I'm not the only one who had this problem either.

This is where i'm at now because my first fix attempt failed spectacularly. One day I will harass @Sqlwizard for help on fixing this because he's been through the same thing. Hopefully you don't have to!

Wow, that super sucks, holy crap! Thank you for the pointer, I'll check that out when the set arrives. I got this guy from TFSource, and I've heard extremely mixed feedback about their customer support/parts replacement service, and of course ToyWorld doesn't exist for purposes of parts replacement, so I guess any repairs will more than likely have to be totally DIY, right?

Really shocking to see the part broken so thoroughly.

Wow, i would recommend you guys find one of the early ones on ebay. I got the 2nd version of it, when they first released with a different head and green thighs. I've transformed it about a dozen times, never had any issues with it. Even back then quality was seriously hit and miss, but now it seems like it's really gone off the deep end

Shovel just snapped in half today.

Or rather, I discovered that he’d snapped in half today. I’ve never done anything with this set besides combining it and leaving it on a shelf… So, even the act of it sitting still broke him in half at the waist. Was moving shelves around and lifted him off the bottom shelf when his leg just came off like a broken candy cane.

You should not buy this set if you haven’t already, people. It was a piece of shit the moment I took it out of the box and it’s done nothing but degrade under its own weight, apparently.
