This is a team I have been thinking about putting together for a while and finally got around to doing. I basically wanted an Autobot version of the Combaticons, but made up of just ground vehicles. After looking at what I had available, I decided on doing up a pair of Jeeps and a pair of tanks to go along with an artillery truck. The main voyager figures name is Bolster, and he’s a mix of a broken Inferno, a broken Onslaught, and parts of a KO Hotspot. I swapped out some joints and added the cab feet to the Onslaught legs. The chest piece came from the shapeways store of @Quaternion. It fit perfectly and really helped make this guy look different. The back cannons are from a third party Astrotrain I think, I had them in a parts bin and they looked just right. The Jeeps are Dusk (Jazz head) and Grunt (Movie Brawn head) and are just dirtied up to darken their green a bit. The tanks are Caliber (Movie Blazemaster head) and Fuze (Prowl head) and are also just dirtied. These two have head adapters from @Quaternion as well. Those needed a little more finesse to install but they turned out great. They are both KOs, so there may have been some slight differences in the molds. For the combined mode, Retaliator, I added some thigh extensions from Thingiverse. Look up SummersideGuy, he has some great stuff for combiners. A friend resin printed the extensions and I painted them to match. I needed to adjust them to fit the combiner ports, but a little sanding was all they needed. Overall I’m pleased with how it turned out. Especially cuz it used up some broken and extra figures I had laying around. Thanks for looking!!
Looks great Or Militarybots Do the handheld combiner weapons and extra parts store in the individual robot and alt modes?
I have tried to come up a a decent -bots name that sounds good, but nothing really sticks. Originally, I was thinking about just calling them The Reinforcements, but idk Unfortunately, only the guns can be used in vehicle mode. The extensions, swords, & feet just get put off to the side. Cool thing about the extensions tho, the wheels spin even tho they are printed as one piece. Just need to break them loose after printing. SummersideGuy has some really nice models. I could maybe make a trailer now that I think about it…
That’s awesome. I love the plain real-world color scheme, it looks great on the molds. I also love the Reinforcements name. It’s not G1 toyetic, but it works great with the team.
Now that is amazing and beautiful! Hasbro would do well to take an idea like this for a Generations Select offering.
On one hand, I'm a little saddened by the whole 'two tank, two jeep' thing. That always bugged me about the Energon combiners. But all of the bots are brilliant, and you've got one proper looking combined form. =D
