This figure is arguably worth the $90 price point, he has the parts count for it (I just don't think it went to enough things that justify that cost). But there is no way on Earth he is worth anywhere near $200.

 

Probably why they are not selling him for 200$. He is well worth the 90$
price point and he like jetfire will likely see discounts(I got mine for 30$ at Walmart) We will likely never see another G1 rodimus prime in the main again.

 

I just got him in a few hours ago.

First impression is that he is a LOT bigger than I was expecting. The trailer dwarfs Earthrise Op’s trailer, and even with Nonnef’s add-ons, the Roddy trailer is heavier. The Rodimus figure itself feels hefty, which is a word I never expected to use for a mainline TF again, but am very happy to do so. Trust me when I say that in-hand, you can tell that this is Commander class



One thing I’m having difficulty with is that the trailer won’t fully close. I don’t know if it’s just my copy, or if this has been discussed before, but is this widespread? It’s a bit better with the gun turret removed, but it still won’t fully close together.





There’s also a better way to transform the battle station so that the ramp doesn’t look like an afterthought.

Ok just got him into robot mode. Definitely influences of SS Hot Rod in the design, but he’s still very much his own figure. Only quibble is that the rear backpack doesn’t peg too securely to the windshield and pops off relatively easily. He could have used some more paint apps to bring out the details too, but I think Toyhax is going to have a field day with this guy.

Tolerance issues aside….if I never buy another Transformer again, I am fine with it. Between SS Hot Rod and Rodimus, I am just so absolutely satisfied. Whoever said this was near MP level wasn’t wrong, it is just a step beyond anything we’ve seen in any mainline figure so far. Haters will hate, but, to me, the price is absolutely justified. Is he perfect? No, and I’ll probably touch on that later. But for now, I am just going to take the time to bask in my sheer, unadulterated joy at having this Rodimus in hand after waiting decades for a proper redo of the G1 toy. I can’t get “The Touch” out of my head right now.

Ugh... This thing is so near perfect that it makes the vehicle mode quibbles bug me that much more.

He's in Malaysia. Hong Kong has him, too. If Galvatron's release pattern is any indication, we should be seeing Rodimus in the west very soon.

 

He is really great. I love mine. I just wish there was an MP scale equivalent that looked and functioned this well. Once you fix his balance issue with a minute of sanding to his heels, he is damn near perfect.

 

How good is this Rodimus at handling other weapons? I wanted to use the Battlemaster Rungs on him because of the connection they had in the IDW comics and because they colors complement each other.

 

And will you Do me a Favor? Lay off the Energon Goodies.

 

I saw a post somehwere that said Target has this figure’s in store street date as sometime in June. Anyone remember the day?

 

I don’t recall seeing that but I did notice some Target stores have started to put Commander tags back on shelf.

 

I noticed that too. I don’t remember what thread it was either, but I know the thread topic wasn’t about Rodimus in particular.

 

He’s the Dollar General version of Rodimus Prime. He looks fun to mess around with. Not a fan of the Hing in the smoke stacks (gaps can be filled) and the backpack… Better than MP Rodimus.

 

July 2 street date

 

Hopefully July 2nd is true, I’d love to just walk into a Target and grab one off the shelf and ditch my BBTS preorder.

 

The more I look at him the more I fall in love with the plastic color used. That orange is so... 'yummy' to look at. He is outside my budget but I hope to get to play with him soon when my friend gets him.

 

I have 2 preordered and need to find #3 at retail. Watch Walmart get him first. F#<king scalpers

 

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but is Rodimus a darker shade of red?
