So a friend put an idea/fear in my head. Will these games be trade compatible with sword and shield and how would that work for ones not yet in the game like the sinnoh starters? Or will this be how they fill the gap of everything not yet in the game?

No Diamond and Pearl announcement or reveals.
    Oh well.
I guess it is a stinky Links Awakening style remake.

Believe me I’m pissed too, but from what everyone says Pokémon is so big it has become it’s own thing as of late so they do a separate Direct exclusively with info on Pokémon games & such

Ya, it is very likely we'll get a separate Pokemon Presents, however this could be a possibility this month or nothing until a month or 2 before BDSP's release.

EDIT: There was a theory revolving around that Tencent recently posted job vacancies and that Pokemon would hold off from E3 or a presents for them to catch up for Unite.

That being said, there is a Unite news drop tomorrow.

There may be a announcement for another pokemon direct like last time, but who knows.

    it sure is

EDIT: Speculation time but Pokemon Company is currently doing monthly promotions and focus on all the regions and July will be Sinnoh. Possible we could see a presentation then for the games if we get no update after Unite's.

    Pokemon Unite trailer soon.

Better update is that people have found that Pokemon Korea's youtube page has been updated today in their BDSP playlist which has been privated. Usually this means a new video or trailer has been added.

    That andMasuda just posted this.

Masuda never hashtags games, this either could be hinting at an update video coming soon or this is just him reassuring fans that BDSP is being worked on still and not just forgotten since there was no e3 announcements.

    Welp that's all there is

There will be a Network Test for the Nintendo Switch version in Japan on June 24th through June 26th 2021
The mobile version will be released in September
Battles change depending on the stage. Such as one goal in Jevre City and a one way movement in Zefio Park
You can obtain items in shops using paid Aeos Gems or items found by playing the game: Aeos Coins and Aeos Tickets. These can be used to obtain Unite Licenses to get Pokémon for Unite Battles
There's a Seasonal Battle Pass that has rewards for levelling up by completing missions. You can even upgrade the Battle Pass with paid Gems
Pokémon have various costumes you can get known as Holowear, which dresses your Pokémon in a variety of outfits. You can also customise your trainer's appearance
Pokémon UNITE is crossplay and you do not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play. It also includes a native voice chat option on both platforms, a friends list and a native text/stamp chat
If you log in to Pokémon UNITE using a Nintendo Account or Pokémon Trainer Club account, you can play with the same account on either device and content purchased with gems will carry over between them but purchased Gems will not carry over between device
Blastoise and Gardevoir will be added at a later point while the rest are at launch

You mean the overall battle mechanic?

It works, its Pokemon in every style and its fundamentally and mechanically sound.

What needs to change and it looks like its heading in the right direction with Legends Arceus, is that the battles must be more interactive now. We can't just sit and watch two semi frozen pokemon idle around with limited animations. To see a connected attack and reaction instead of pasted move animations would be wonderful.

But thats a lot of work for 800+ pokemon, you can cut corners with current animations being used, but I just want to see more interactions between pokemon during a battle. Like back in Stadium and such.

As a spin off game, I wouldn't mind seeing Pokken 3D battle style be grounded by the 4 move fundamentals of base pokemon games, where when in battle you control the pokemon. Dodge abilities and movement speed would also depend on your actual evasiveness and speed stats too.

But that's only presentation, it's not a change to the gameplay
    Does it really ?
Every time i pick up a Pokémon game to play nowadays i have a lackluster experience with the single player, be it FireRed, White 2 or Moon
It's easy to simply say "well you grew up", which is not entirely wrong, as a kid i didn't care much about games design, i just wanted to see my starter's numbers go up, and Pokémon was pretty much the only RPG i played back then
As years went by the single player lost it's charm to me and i noticed how a lot of people care much more about the competitive scene which i never got into, then i played other RPGs and noticed a few contrasts
    In most RPGs:
1)Fights use a full party of at least 3 members, instead of being 1v1
2)Special moves cost points from a single energy bar, instead of individual power points for each move
3)Healing spots are paid and not very easily accessible to the player
4)Bosses are made to be very strong obstacles which require a full team to beat and do not follow some kind of type matchup strategy that applies to all their strategy and surroundings, aka they're not like Pokémon gyms, closest thing to the former in the PKMN games are trainers with 6 pokémon
5)equipment is more relevant too, they have more varied effects which will help when the challenge requires them, hardly the case with Pokémon
    .
Now i don't think this has to be followed to a T, but yeah i'd like to see most of it in Pokémon, the devs created double battles and triple battles but never build upon them which would make building a party way more meaningful, instead what happens often is Snowballing, you mostly keep using a single pokémon to win battles(usually your starter), to the point it becomes too strong creating a disparity, it only stops momentarily if this pokémon at some point cannot handle the type matchups, in which case you must capture a single pokémon for this challenge(or take back one you haven't been using)and grind a bit for it to handle the current challenge, this only changes slightly in the Pokémon League where the increased number of the opponents pokémon + the lack of pokémon center forces you to have a more fully trained team to handle the attrition, it still comes down to grinding and making a few type matchups
The current Exp. Share is almost compensation for the symptons rather than soling the problem, yes grinding is boring, but grinding wouldn't be so necessary in the first place if the games actually used double or triple battles most of the time, thus incentivizing more that you build a team rather than a few single creatures, the Exp would come naturally from using them in battle rather than just because they happened to be in your party
As i alluded to earlier, simply using more Pokémon in battle isn't enough, the way your opponents are designed also has to be handled better, in the case of Gym Leaders(and whatever variation they had so far), i think the games should move away from monotype trainers, even though they're all of different types and there are double typed pokémon, the challenge with Gym Leaders still comes down to very simple type matchups, instead these bosses should be designed around more varied strategies that force you to do adapt your party to each of them, get new moves, new pokémon, trial and error, that's part of if not the exact core of what makes good turn based combat, constantly requiring to rebuild your party to approach the new challenge, something Pokémon only does to a very very basic level at best
    .
Im also aware that simply implementing these changes ain't enough, most Pokémon moves weren't designed for battles with multiple pokémon in mind, this would also affect the competitive scenario which also largely focused on 1v1, plus, combat isn't the only thing that makes a single player experience, there's story and exploration, all that being said, i do think striving for these standards would do a lot to improve the single player campaign, so it isn't just a an underwhelming and superfluous experience or a boring obstacle you need to go through in order to get to other parts of the game

    1. I recommend Pokemon Coliseum, every battle is a double battle.

    2. I see where you're coming from and agree with you on some points.

I also think double and triple battles should be implented more, especially for villain grunts and for those to be increased in difficulty to have a better sense of victory. With access to Exp Share and multiple Pokemon Centers easily, it does provide cushions to the gameplay, I think optional Exp Shares and longer more difficult routes in between towns/Pokemon Centers would go a long way too.

I remember my first time playing Pearl, the path from Mt.Coronet to Snowpoint City is an arduous trek, slowed down by the snow, wild encounters and trainers with just a cabin to stop in. If we placed this cabin even at the beginning of route 216, it forces the player to repeat the route and deal with that all again to continue. Instead of taking one step back to heal and being able to plow your way quickly through the next two towns.

But that's not all, Pokemon has created multiple battle styles and they genlock them to keep things interesting, but if you were travelling through a large expansive route and there's mutliple and type varied versions of wild horde encounters, S.O.S battles, Pokemon that charge out of grass/trees/sky/wild like in Sword, with trainer battles on top of that. That'd be great, the amount of exp would have to be altered though.

With Gym Leaders and bosses, we should see more double battle leaders like Tate and Liza or one specializing in triple battles, rotation, inverse or hell, a flying type leader who only does sky battles. Bosses like Ultra Necrozma are in the ride direction, Totems and Raids also provide a good challenge, however instead of four npcs unless for plot, it should just be your team.

This would definitely change up a game for sure and create a longer, more difficult rpg for pokemon. Though because of how varied it is for what players want out of a pokemon game, i could see this more as a spin off like Legends Arceus than a mainline game, since they want those to be as accessible as possible for all audiences to enjoy.

    Hm
    where do you disagree ?
a bit too random for my taste
sky battle are almost the same thing as single battles from what i recall
Precisely, if the double and triple battles are filled with NPCs on your side, then you're not being incentivized to use the rest of your team more nor do you have much control over the commands
Is this really too hard ?
why Mainline has to remain mediocre ?

Pretty much just the mechanic of special moves costing points from an energy bar, there's also a point where lets say, dual typed double battles for leaders/bosses (depending how close in weakness/coverage/effectiveness they are) could prove to be more of a wall than a challenge to some. But I also get it. More smarter double battles and scenarios with leaders actually using strategy around an held item or team move setup (like Raihan in Gen 8 working with a sandstorm team even though he's a dragon type gym leader) would be cool.

In concept no, in making it? Be a bit more work but still doable. The problem is when you get down to the nitty gritty of who the game is for and how you are gonna sell it. Start making and promoting a hardcore competitive rpg for players and you risk losing causal players and new players (if they can't figure it out I mean, kids are still able to play and beat hard games), which in turn would risk bad reviews or lower sales. So the mediocrity comes from making a game that has bits of game styles for every player, but that's in trade of a lower quality of game.

Ok, I'm about to rant! I'm angry at Pokemon go! They announced that Shadow Ho-oh would be catchable and teased it with this image!
    how-to-beat-giovanni-june-2021.jpg
Now, I was thinking "Oh wow! A unique Shadow form like Shadow Lugia in Pokemon XD!" and so I decided to get super excited and go all in for the event! I go and fight Giovanni (Who has the Shadow Ho-oh) and NOPE! iT'S JUST REGULAR HO-OH WITH SHADOW AURA! WHY!?!? WHY YOU BETRAY ME?!?! WHAAARGH!!!!

....Ok, rant over... now back to waiting for gen 4 remake releases

I mean in fairness to them that's just how they've promoted pretty much ALL Shadow Legends to this point, they didn't start with Ho-Oh. There's the Legendary birds and dogs that looked like that too for promotional artwork but were just like every other Shadow Pokemon in Go.

Why they didn't just make the promotion look like actual Shadow Pokemon in Go, or make Shadow Pokemon look like the promotion artwork to begin with, is another thing though. I think it would have been cooler if they weren't just the normal pokemon in purple smoke.
