Yeah, I've seen the fix demonstrated. Not sure if I want to try that myself. Hopefully Selects toy-colors Galvatron will be assembled right from the start.

update: I got home and it would have been an hour and a half trek (and rush hour was just beginning), so I talked myself out of it. If anyone sees a Galvy with properly aligned shoulders, I’ll gladly pay a finders fee if you’ll snag it for me!

Ah, yeah. I managed to time my excursion throughout the day to generally avoid the worst traffic. Shoot, you must be further out than I am if Nashville West takes you that long a drive.

Way down in Franktown. And it’s not usually that bad or that long of a trip (I work in Brentwood). But I had just gotten home and traffic was beginning to build. I appreciate the heads up!

Yeah I wouldn't wanna try going up 65 coming up on 5:00 or so. Especially today since they had the east-bound lane at the 440 interchange blocked off - but had no warnings of that until you actually got to the split on the ramp and then had to find a gap to divert to west-bound. Eastward 440 looked like a parking lot anyway even at the time I went by there. You made a wise decision.

Forgive my ignorance, but other than shoulder height is there anything that gives away which Galvatron it is?

You should be able to look at the inner "disc" part of the shoulder. I think if it's assembled correctly, the smooth part of it would be showing out the tops of the shoulders, and if it's wrong the sculpted/detailed part would be up.

Hixson Target has one Galvatron left after I picked up one. They both appear to be the Low shoulder version cause the ruff part of the shoulder disk is on top. I'm gonna attempt the fix when I am back home and I'll tell everyone how it goes. Good to be back in TN for a bit. Way easier to look for stuff than taking the subway all over the place in NYC.

Edit: I put him behind the Space Jam toys on the bottom shelf next to the He Man masters of the universe sets.

I posted this in the "Kingdom Galvatron First Look" thread....

I successfully performed the shoulder surgery and removed the battle damage and orange paint from the fusion canon. I used Testor’s ELO for the tampo printed battle damage and orange on the canon. Simply apply the ELO with a cotton swab. Allow it to sit and wait about 40 minutes. The printed paint lifts right off and can be wiped away leaving the plastic pristine. Be mindful of any actual paint (tampo IS NOT PAINT. It’s a type of ink). ELO will remove it QUICKLY. I also applied a coat of Citadel Nun Oil Shade to his face to add definition. Apply Shade to the entire silver surface. Citadel Shade retreats from high points and flows into crevices and low areas. Makes a world of difference.

The surgery is a bit…stressful. Figuratively and literally. The video I watched on YouTube (thank you SparkSide - YRQRM0) had some great tips. Follow those tips. The shoulders are constructed of a hard PVC. That’s a good thing. They will flex without breaking and almost any stress marks can be completely removed. I hit each shoulder with a hair dryer on high for about a minute. Move the hair dryer in small circles over the shoulder and watch the stress marks completely disappeared.

The only crappy part is my canon was cracked right out of the box. So, I’m stuck with that. Anyone else have a cracked canon? Hope it isn’t a widespread issue.

Anyway hope this helps. Don’t be afraid to try the surgery. If you can avoid deep mars a hairdryer will sort any stress marks. Because of the plastic type the stress marks should be minor and only appear around the area in which you inserted the flathead screwdriver. Good luck!

great job, man! It looks phenomenal. Now you're making me want to try the surgery even more than I already want to, haha. Also that oil on the face is a great idea. Might borrow that one from you.

Also would you mind posting a link to the video you used for the surgery?

Northshore Target has 4 (!!!) Galvys, all misassembled shoulder versions.

That’s awesome I was debating on doing that to mine but knowing me I’d probably break it so I think if I find another one with the messed up shoulders I’ll try it or keep an eye out for one that has the fixed shoulders it doesn’t really bother me to much so plus if you flip his shoulders around it sort of fixes the issue but you do see the pin holes so guess it depends on your preference

Thanks man! I still need to remove the paint from above his hooves. That's my only real gripe about this figure. His feet are too small and just a weird shape for Galvatron. I've always been partial to Galvy's "shoe" look lol

Initially I was just going to flip the shoulders around so that the pin was visible and not go through the whole mess of PRYING THE ARMS OFF OF A FIFTY DOLLAR TRANSFORMER. The mere thought of it made me nauseous. But the more I looked at the shiny pins the more it bugged me. So at 9:10 pm, while sitting on the bed looking at it, I jumped up (nearly growling in irritation), snagged Galvs and went to my shop. My wife was like,"What in the world!?". The job was completed by 9:55. I never would have attempted the surgery if the plastic was ABS. No way it would have survived. Even if it did the figure would have looked like crap. It sucks Hasbro started using stupid pins for dang near every attachment point. Two years ago this would have been a 10 minutes job at the most.

    Here's the vid.

Here's the paint I used. The name is misleading. It's actually not an oil. Citadel has wild names for all of their paints.

Here's a very short video on the technique. I recommend you watch it.

Just left the Franklin Target (not cool springs), and there is one Galvatron waiting for the next lucky hunter. Call me Doc McStuffins because I’m about to fix my Galvy up.

it wasn’t easy, per se, but it also wasn’t as difficult as I was expecting. It just takes patience and being careful not to scratch up the plastic (which is super durable). And I’d definitely follow along to the video @firmpulse linked. It’s a big help.

I stopped by East Town and Clinton Hwy Targets this morning and didn’t see much. I think Clinton Hwy Target might have had Galvatron earlier is because they had 4 Ultra Magnus’s. The East Town Target had 3-4 SkeleGods from the new Netflix He-Man series.
