Okay, so you got 13 more, and the Quints got an entire race of them. Still better. All of them apparently Primes. So, sounds very unimaginative to me.

I have a feeling that for some people, it has a lot to do with religious beliefs. I won't get into that though.

I like it as a kind of meta-analysis of the Transformers brand - consumer products given personalities and meaning by evolving past their origins. But I prefer the Primus origin because it just has a certain something to it that I like. Maybe the concept of Robot God and what religion might look like in a race of robots is just really interesting to me.

They are from a different universe in the multiverse, of course they would pronounce it differently.

It might have to do with introduced you to the Transformers brand, as well. I never grasped the concept that Transformers were simply robotic machines- I was always more drawn to the line from the 2007 movie which I feel has turned into a staple cornerstone of Cybertronian identity-

“We are autonomous, robotic organisms from the planet Cybertron”.

To me, the Transformers are simply a different form of sentient alien life, who happen to be robotic and can change form. I’m not even sure if the Primus origin would be the best- in fact, I would like it if they didn’t know their creation. Or maybe we could try something unique that is similar to technogenesis? Having Primus as a mystical, and not certain figure in their own universe would be nice. Even these highly advanced organisms don’t know their own creation, and they have their own questions about existence.

I am, however, a much bigger fan of the Quintessons being deeply involved in their history- either as descendants/created by one of the original 13 or as colonizers who enslaved Cybertronians until rebellion cast them off world.

It would also be interesting to tie this hatred of the Quintesson slavers and invaders into rising xenophobic sentiment amongst Cybertronians, such as justification for Nova Prime’s brutal, genocidal expansion- a sentiment Megatron later held in IDW1.0 of “kill it before it gets big enough to kill you” regarding most alien species.

But PLEASE redesign the Quintessons. Like a lot of the 86 movie content, they feel ripped out of Star Wars and they really haven’t gotten any unique redesigns like the rest of the brand. Make them totally metal, and totally terrifying, and I guarantee the “rebel against the monstrous Quintesson overlord” stories would be much better received. Just not a floating, five faced egg.

It was a joke, don't take it too seriously, and hey if you like the Quintessons that's fine. I just fine the concept of them making a Transformers to be boring.

This is 100% my own BS head cannon but I liked the idea that their "true" origins are so far back in time after countless civil wars before even autobots and decepticons were a thing that it's basically lost to the ages. I think 100% the Quintesions had something to do with it. But I think it might more akin to how humans breed cattle and dogs from Ox and Wolfs. Primus might have be the ground zero but after the first few generations he effectively became hands off. Modern cybertronians would be like the 1000th generation of a race that as far as well know have a life span that's centuries long.

I blended the two in my head.

Primus created robotic being with Sparks. Quintessons later enslaved Cybertron and introduced transformation to the inhabitants.

Probably the third or fourth time I've said the same thing recently, lol. "A really big robot" being the origin is something a five year old would come up with, it's a lame first pass idea. Same with "a really big robot" also being the ultimate threat.

The Quintessons are a much more unique idea with a lot more facets to them.

See this is why I say the Quintessons sabotaged themselves. Which would you rather play with as a kid; a giant robot that transforms into a planet or an egg wearing five masks?

If the Quintessons looked more formidable/cool and had some physical presence against the Transformers then I think they'd be more popular today.

well i think thats more on the fault of the creators of the series's past g1 that didnt really update the designs of the quintessons to something more interesting besides the last knight, while that movie is garbage, quintessa atleast looks more appealing as a creator than g1.

On that I agree, as much as I like the idea I passed on the ER Quintesson toys, not so much because they're boring but because they don't have any real presence. The handful of named Quintessons are all the exact same archetype and the unnamed ones all act alike. At least when you army build Sweeps for Scourge you know what their leader is like.

If the Quintessons got some interesting named characters, I think they could get by even with the same designs. All you have to do is take the ER toy and make unique faces since they can already pop off, and design some new drones or bring in existing types that haven't been made into toys yet. I really love the idea, but as it stands there isn't much reason to buy them as toys.

Imo The origin of quintessons building the cybertronions as a slave race, them gaining sentience and banding together to overthrow their slaves is a vastly better origin than GOD made them all.
