I ordered one since I grew up with them and have one outside that I bought when we moved into our house. Was surprised since it was showing "August 1" yesterday and suddenly it was up today for pre-order.
There is a part of me that wishes they just made the flowers and plant parts without the pot and "soil".
Jackpot Step-dad and little brother returned some of my old LEGO to me Since taking this photo, I actually sorted these by part categories.
I almost wish I'd sorted by color (probably would've been quicker), but I find sorting LEGO by function and type a LOT more useful. Also, that is, indeed, a grey Hau mask. If I'm not mistaken, it was part of the intake on Takanuva's (OG Toa of Light) speeder-bike. I have parts of his set and Makuta in there, but not enough to piece either character together... of course after taking a look at the Makuta set, I might actually have enough parts to piece him together, albeit with a few parts that aren't colored right
NOICE I’ve just found that sorting by color is easier, as there is only so many colors in a set but dozens of different bricks. And just what brick goes where? Some of the decisions can be completely arbitrary. Do you organize all smooths, or put cheese slopes with 1x2s? (Not you in particular, just speaking generally.) And yes it’s from the Ussalnui (Toa speeder) set!

Most likely gonna get this, because I have a soft spot for Mario airships... but pretty annoyed that this comes with another Bowser Jr. Come on! Give us another of the real, original Koopalings instead. They already made a Larry... they can’t pack a Ludwig or Iggy or Wendy or someone in with this airship instead? EDIT: Wait... just saw that Bowser Jr. doesn’t come with this, he is just shown in the promotional photos as partvof tge starter pack. So I take that back... but I DO still think this was the perfect chance to do another classic Koopaling.
I got my Supra in yesterday and couldn't wait to build it. Man it was a really fun build and gave me more ideas for my own builds. Also it made me realize my next creation will be a Toyota Tacoma (or Hilux depending on where you are located) since I wanted Lego to make one. Spoiler This set was a bit more complex than the Nissan Skyline and I really love and hate the stickers at the same time. Clear backed stickers are a pain in the rear to apply for me, but I managed to try and get them centered or lined up. The thing is actually quite heavy which surprised me. Also the tires were molded onto the rims which is interesting for the newer sets since that was something I remember from the old days when the wheels and axle were stuck on a Lego brick.
Review on the Polybag Elva (if anyone hasn't seen it) Official version @betsuni - I would have preferred the AE86/BRZ/Scion FRS honestly. As much as I do like the the Supra, this mk.5/BMW Z3 clone isn't working for me.
I finished mine the other day too. It's better in person than in the promo pics. The headlight stickers were a pain to line up, I re-did them a couple of times and now they don't look great. Maybe I will contact Lego CS and ask for a new sheet, doesn't hurt to try. I was surprised the final build is larger than last year's 8-wide Ferrari. I put them side by side and was like "oh, that..... doesn't seem right." Guess it's hard to properly scale these with the same basic frame. Oh well I won't display them together. As always the build was fun, I really love the techniques the SC designers come up with. Happy to finally have a Toyota in the lineup!
My local Lego Store had all the new Speed Champions except for the Ford GT/Bronco set. I got the McLaren Elva and they gave me the mini McLaren as a free gift over $40. I also got the HP Chess set for the gf and the 4pack Spiderman/Venom/Iron Venom/Pork Grind set.
@borgified Yeah, the Supra wasn't on my top 10 list of wants, but when I saw it online I just had to buy it since I wanted the same car you did. You did give me an idea and wonder if I could tweak this to look more like that car. @OCProwl Yeah, the promo pics really do not give it justice. I haven't put the Ferrari together yet so will keep that in mind when I do. I honestly forgot about the frame being a thing when I pulled it out of the box. Think I'm going to go to my Lego Store this weekend and pick up the Bronco set since I just looked at the instructions online. Oh yeah, there was one step on the back where I seriously thought I built it wrong. Pulled it apart a few times, tried downloading the app to get the virtual instructions (they were not up yet) and ended up realizing that the camera angle just messed with me and I did it correctly.
The Tacoma and Hilux are completely different trucks. The Tacoma is only sold in the US and Canada, I believe, and the Hilux to the rest of the world. I'm partial to the Tacoma, since that is what I own. Interested to see what you come up with!
