Did they fix that blurry shot at the start of the fishing scene?

Unfortunately I don't think that could ever be fixed without having to reanimate the scene, unless by some miracle they happen to track down the original un-blurred animation cels.

I don't think the blurry Hot Rod shot can ever be truly fixed. I think it happened when the original cells were photographed onto the "master" used as the basis to print the film reels. You would have to go back and find the original elements and try to reconstruct the shot.

Funimation UK official announcement, basically just reconfirming everything from yesterday's post:

Funimation UK Announces Transformers The Movie 4K UHD Blu-ray

Definitely looking forward to the artbook/ poster/ artcards from the Zavvi Exclusive set. @Arco2002 really nailed it with his work on this release imo. Here are the artcards that are also included:

Full spread cover artwork and reversible retro cover for the Zavvi UK edition (pending Hasbro's approval as per Matt Ferguson’s twitter)

Had to order the Zavvi exclusive set from the UK site - they didn't make it available today on the US site.

Thanks for mentioning this! I've been refreshing the US site all morning until I decided to check this thread!

Same here - came in and saw it seemed to be available in UK, so I changed my region on their site. They allowed the order with shipping to US, so looks like you'll be fine if you do the same.

Yes, this does seem to be the case. I believe when they did the 4k scan for the Blu Ray a few years ago, they mentioned that the blur was from the original element they used, and couldn't be fixed. It wouldn't be fixed this time around, since they didn't do a new scan. They used the scan they did for the Blu Ray, which is why they created a 4k scan at the time - so when they wanted to release a 4k version, they already had it done.

Until I see this in hand, I still feel the best versions released so far are the Full Frame version on the Sony 20th 2-disc DVD set and the Pioneer Laserdisc. The Hillcrane laserdisc has the better stereo audio, but I think the Pioneer pressing looks best.

I have pre-ordered this but I have mixed feelings about watching it again. I don't look forward to seeing Optimus die again. I wish they had put on the Blu-ray his return episode from the series to make the gut punch not hurt so much.

Thanks for posting this @Chris C137. Doubting which version to buy. Wondering what that artbook is. Does anyone know?

I think the only confirmed info about the artbook so far is this from the Funimation UK site:
Not sure if that means 32 pages of new artwork by Matt Ferguson, or a collection of new and old art perhaps? Either way I'm getting it :p

It’s some detail shots and the WIP sketches I did. Nothing really new in there other than that. They wanted to show the process of making the art a bit. I think it may have the old key art in there again as well. Assets were limited on this release, I had to source the old art myself and then remaster it for print.

I had to buy a 4K Blu-Ray player to be able to watch the movie properly once it's released. :D

Hi Folks - For anyone interested it looks like Amazon US has the non-steelbook 4k version and blu-ray version of this release up for pre-order now.

No Amazon Canada yet....... Does anyone know why the steelbook version is cheaper than the regular release? I would have assumed the opposite. Steelbooks often get dented from Amazon so I'm only interested in the regular version.

Amazon.com: The Transformers: The Movie - 35th Anniversary Edition [4K UHD] [Blu-ray]: Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Robert Stack, Lionel Stander, Orson Welles, Nelson Shin, Joe Bacal, Tom Griffith, Ron Friedman: Movies & TV

Edit: So it is on Amazon.ca but only the 1080P version so far...... is Canada not getting the 4K version?

I was wondering the same thing. I think that Amazon's algorithms figured out that more people prefer the art on the regular edition more and priced it accordingly. I know I prefer the art used on that version versus the steelbook. They could have also figured out that steelbook gimmick isn't enough of a draw and competitively priced it so they wouldn't get stuck with it.

I think the steelbook started at 29.99 in the US and has dropped multiple times since the listing went up. The same might happen with the regular version.
