Was Build Real even supposed to be a full series, or just a special? It didn't even have any model kits specially released for it. Just some instructions on how to kitbash your own from existing kits. From what little I saw of it, though, it was pretty blech. Fight choreography and physics were all sorts of wonky.
I've been wanting to get the right kind of chrome paint for eventually treating the third party Caletvwlch I bought for my PG Red Frame Kai. everything I've looked at is all Airbrush based, and this is the middle ground alternative, either by applying directly from the pen itself, decanting it and thinning it lightly to apply by brush rapidly, or using it with the Gundammarker Airbrush system. This is why G-Saviour is still the best of the Live Action Gundam projects... second only to the RX-78's cameo in Ready Player One. *I will never apologize for liking G-Saviour* Anyway, they were supposedly releasing the "Custom" Real Grades from it supposedly as P.B Exclusives, but then I saw on Dengeki Hobby the week after that first and so far ONLY Episode disaster, an article of how to make the kits yourself. Literally just the two step solution of buying the Real Grade Full Armor Unicorn and Banshee, then swapping the parts.
Well TBF, I don't even think Build Real was even meant to be a full-on ongoing series like Re:Rise, but rather more like a basic, simple side-project on a lower budget to promote the Real Grade line of Gunpla kits, with most Gunpla featured in the show been nothing but reissues of past Real Grade models with new colors and/or decals. I've watched a few miscellaneous scenes of the show, and the only thing I can say is that... it exists, I guess. The parts featuring the human casts are cliched but still watchable, but just by watching the fights featuring the Gundams, it's obvious that this didn't have a high budget to begin with.
they're actually on episode 4 although episode 4 hasnt had an air date announced but if the last 3 episodes are anything to go by, it will probably be around the end of the month
I think it says a lot about Build Real that we don't even know how many episodes have even aired, it's that little of an impression.
Got any pearl white paint for those bits you need to paint on the shoulder protrusions and back of the v-crest? Edit, forgot to post this.. Working on the Mk49 Rescue over in the Marvel Toys thread, and I'm getting to the hands. The come pretrimmed and bagged separately, I need to finish sanding the flashing between each finger and paint the joints. The kit comes with aurora lens stickers that need to be applied to the palm repulsors. However, I only need six of them since two of the hands have posts for connecting with the blast effects parts. Either I'm missing where the rest need to go, or I have a bonus surplus of rare mod parts for my next Zeonic type or round weapon scopes. I'll have to check the Mk85 kit to see if it comes with these too, and if it will give me any more spares.
I actually do! I recently got a stock of Mr. Color pearl white lacquers for an upcoming project. Not sure how well it'll match the rest of the pearlescent white of the rest of the kit, will test it later on. Either way, I won't be too bothered if I'm going to end up leaving these parts as-is.
Finished building the Wodom Pod. That was really fun. The parts also have lots of panel lines which added to my build time.
Gunjap.net is mirroring one of the first reviews of the RG Wing Gundam. Review RG Wing Gundam ā GUNJAP It's offiial, we have the winner of the "Real Grade Kit with the Smallest Amount of Multigate Injected Frame Parts" award. These are the main joints for connecting the wings to the backpack.
i have one of these on my backlog. It is such a bizarre looking bot, Iām really looking forward to putting it together.
Okay, so the wings can lift all the way up without needing to "feather" so that's good. Still, between that garbage and the "Bird Mode" there's a lot of functionality I would never be using if I got this, plus I feel like the HG Wing is fine, and of course I'm waiting on Deathscythe, so... this can wait, if I even bother.
Arms are done! The kit definitely shows its age regarding poseability and joints, though also considering it's from 2009, it's still pretty good with parts separation and all. Regardless, it does look good as a souvenir/trophy-piece for my Gundam Base visit, so I'm happy with that at the very least. Only got the backpack, shield, rifle, and Action Base left to do; will probably start it tonight and finish tomorrow.
Rather than age, I think the articulation restrictions are inherent to Unicorn's design. The 00 Season 2 HGs helped set the new articulation standard a year before, and had far greater range of motion. Unicorn only has overt single-joints in its elbows and knees, for instance. Similar restrictions are present in the original MG and Metal Composite figures. It wasn't until the PG, followed by the RG and MG Extreme kits that Unicorn became "super articulated", with the models adding hidden secondary joints in its limbs to facilitate the extra range of motion.
Yep, I remember that the 00 S2 suits set a new standard. This I was not really aware of. This HGUC Unicorn is actually my first Unicorn kit/toy ever. <shrug>
Two consecutive posts (double-post?) because this one is almost 8 hours after than my previous one. Backpack done: Shield done: Will finish this guy off tomorrow with the rifle and Action Base, and I have a small nice personal touch planned for the Action Base.
