If this is true, maybe they will just replace my defective part and not ask me to ship the whole thing back again.

 

Depends on what the defective part is
Of its a bagged item they will send it tonyou but if its on unicron itself they want the whole figure back

I'm eager to see if Hasbro will reach out to that guy or if he finds a return shipping label in that box. Either way, great luck for the guy to get a new figure in its entirety. When I spoke with Hasbro global they said their stock shows zero units for replacement figures but they still have some parts. All parts were identified by number only and they weren't able to provide descriptions. That said, I would imagine if it came in one of the multiple bags (A, B, ...) then you might be in luck if you find you have a bad part and can document it.

 

Finally decided to transform mine back to planet mode today … surprisingly wasn’t as bad as I was fearing… I’m used to shell formers needing precision with how the legs, etc fold up and I just knew it would suck but it went smoothly!

That said, he’ll probably live this way for a while  

 

The Haslab Unicron is using some unusually solid plastic for the built that we don't usually see in many other fragile transformers toys. You can put ton of forces to it without worries. In fact, without sufficient force, you will not be able to move it or even transform it properly.

 

as mentioned by others, the only part that seems a bit iffy are the shoulder joints, and I prefer to rotate them while still attached

To be honest I'm really shocked that ToyHax even bothered with Unicron since the overall number of units is so low to begin with and most people seem to be happy the way it is. It gives me hope that just maybe a third party will bother to make a decent veneer part to clip over the top. Yes, I'm aware of the option currently available but I'm not a fan of the 3D printed version. It has too many flaws in the surface because of the printing process and I'm super picky. I would only use a molded part. I actually considered having a local machine shop cut one for me out of solid plastic but that would be pretty expensive and not worth it.

Anyway, it's good that people have options but I really don't like stickers and in my opinion ToyHax ruined these with all that extra detail. Simple, flat coloured stickers would have been more appealing to me. Maybe with some minimal, subtle detail lines that mimic the existing maw parts. I do like what they did with the silver chomper parts, except for those odd black lines they added. That alone is tempting me to buy the set.

But agree... I would have preferred a 3D printed option and I can wait to see if that will ever happen.

 

The blue maw never bothered me, but I am a fan of accuracy too, so I ordered a set of those Toy Hax stickers to see how it looks. Seems to look pretty decent in their pictures so hopefully I'll like it once I have it.

 

I do like the way that completed Maw looks, but that's 148ish stickers? It does look really nice, but I wouldn't even want to look at it by the time I was done lol

 

Just grabbed a set to the UK. Never use stickers, and I have a good colour match on a 3d printed cover, but I want to see how these look. Plus the chompers...as @Paco Grande says!

 

I’m mostly in this for silver chompers. Will also apply the orange triangles to cover the blue trianges (if it looks good). Haven’t rewatched yet but based on these images I found online, I think the black lining on the chompers is more or less accurate

 

I’ve never bought stickers before and the blue maw didn’t bother me too much, but this looked good. The extra cost is worth it for the centerpiece of my collection

There is a 3D printed maw cover available. You can buy it from an online store in Australia that is already painted (I can't remember the name, sorry! It's in this thread somewhere.) or if you have your own 3D printer you can get the file from @Trunkkey. He has a thread somewhere on this forum where he provides 3D files for upgrades you can print. He designed the maw cover as well as some other cool stuff.

I wonder if this is just their first set. I wonder what else they can sticker up. I'm also very glad they're not charging $100 or whatever for one massive set.

 

I've had no further contact from Hasbro and there was no additional label in the box. I'm gonna assume at this point that I was the beneficiary of a random act of kindness from a Hasbro Senior Customer Service Exec and consider myself very lucky. Needless to say, I'm not gonna be reaching out to them and reminding them I still exist however

Unicron will stay boxed for another month or two till I'm sure Hasbro don't want anything else. At that point, I'll probably transform into planet mode and hang from the ceiling in my garage.
