Yeah but it should be real. In general I wish there were more repaints of this mold. I like it so much more than the reformatted one.

I already have two versions of this mold but I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Zero interest in that repaint as it means absolutely nothing to me and lacks a real cool factor like a stealth or asterisk repaint would have. I'd only pick one up to keep the set of repaints complete and I'd much prefer they focus on the cassettes, or if they have to do another repaint of Azalea, I'd prefer it was the blue/orange/white deco like the R-08 Asterisk version.

It's a digital photo edit, I forgot by who but Makoto just likes the idea is all. Azalea got a lot of photo edits and I've mocked up plenty of alternative schemes for her myself.

We had considered doing a bunch of other versions of her but we've done so many already and I personally feel like the mold has run its course so I dunno if yet more would be worthwhile. I think if we were to do a cop lady deco I'd rather save such a cool idea for if we ever end up with another better cooler fem car figure in the future.

Azalea isn't a particularly great toy, what with her tiny tiny feet making her so precarious and her being so skinny she's just not as fun as mp carbots should be. And that's mostly the fault of G1 Arcee being a kind of shitty robot design which is why none of the Arcee toys are particularly great. I'm praying we transition to an understanding sooner than later that skinny tf toys are always prone to being annoying to work with and mmcs next batch of fem molds all have a decent quantity of body mass to them to avoid yet more tiny foot designs that demand diecast in the legs just to have a chance of staying standing.

I'd love to see some female bots made like what you said. Would be interesting to try at least one like this.

Nah, she's a woman and she has a beautiful and perfect body, if a FEMALE bodie makes you so sad and angry, isn't the character's fault, sorry, also the "SHE CAN'T STAND!" excuse doesn't apply to LG Arcee, maybe the best Arcee mold ever made, she's increible for posing, and also NICEE, having high heels she has a perfect balance, again with a beautiful and perfect FEMALE body, not a male's body with a cute face, FT Rouge can't stand but mankind produced one of the best things in the entire history, a great device called action figure stand, 5$ on AliExpress
Also Strongarm is a cutie, I love her

    Or... OR...

    Ohta3.png

If otherwise, tell me why Arcee's original toy was cancelled, tell me why it took over 20 years to even get close until a couple years later, we got a proper G1 Arcee figure and until then, we were stuck with a Blackarachnia repaint and non-transforming figures.

Don't get me wrong. I love Arcee, her design is great on-screen, but it does not work as great when translated to a proper toy, which is what Aza was referring to. Which is also why I find your immediate reaction to a statement made about toy design from someone who works in the business and has worked on an Arcee toy, on a thread about said toy, taking it as a snide sexist remark, laughable. This is a forum about toys, and nothing of that sort was even hinted at. Cool your jets and don't jump the gun from now on, a lot of us here would greatly appreciate that.

As for the standing argument, Legends Arcee can with little effort, but only because her backpack was light as sin. Masterpiece-scale Arcee figures, which is what this exact forum is about, can't exactly get away with the same while staying faithful to the design. MP-51 Arcee and FT Rouge tried but ended up with not completely clean and very weighty backpacks.

It's exactly the same reason why SHF DBZ figures like Kid Goku, who has a big-ass head and small feet, have some trouble standing without a stand.

Not to mention Nicee was an original design, leaving BFB to do whatever they pleased with her. And they managed to find that magic balance.

Azalea came the closest to a clean backpack while staying faithful to the original model, but that doesn't mean it didn't go without a single hiccup. After all, you replied to a post speaking about just that.

It does look good. Could be using the image to stir things and as a gauge of interest.

Although I think I would prefer Highway Patrol khakis or grey.
Should be a moderate retool of:

You completely misinterpreted my point dear friend. It's not a matter of the female form being bad, it's a matter of plastic and metal toys and the nature of transforming figures, mass distribution and part engineering.

Transformer toys are supposed to be about in hand interactivity, that is their primary goal as a product, to be an enjoyable thing to physically engage with and place on a surface no matter what mode or pose you've put it in. It's why we consider the best ones to be those where the transformation is smooth and satisfying, both forms look nice and the posability of the robot as high as possible and able to hold as wide a range of poses as possible.

The human body is by its very nature not a well evolved thing, our spines are kind of shit and unless we maintain a certain degree of physicality we tire much more easily, we use up our energy for the day more easily. Why do you think we spend most of our lives sitting and sleeping? because standing and walking all the time is not what we're evolved to do constantly.

Plastic toys have a hell of a time replicating what our bodies can do, and again; our bodies aren't so great in the first place, so when its just basic plastic, pins, screws trying to maintain a reliable structure things get more difficult the thinner and more poorly mass distributed that structure is. Toys compensate by using heavier parts in the feet/shins and attempting to over tighten their friction points to keep themselves in place.

The less plastic you have to work with, the more basic the joints the harder a time that mostly plastic structure has with keeping itself posed and standing.

When you build a transformer toy with a certain amount of flat base to stand on, with knee, hip, shoulder, waist, elbow joints of a certain size you can make those points of motion stronger. This allows the toy to be a better toy.

This is also why legends scale toys are typically better off being as simple as possible and why masterpieces took off like crazy, because mps found the perfect size ranges where plastic can do its thing without being a pain in the ass.

I don't know... I would argue contemporary lifestyles are why we sit and sleep so much rather than evolution.

I dunno, all aesthetic discussion about the female form aside, I feel like you’re selling Azalea short. Which, on one hand, it’s refreshing that you’re willing to be candid and critical about your own figures, but on the other hand, I don’t feel like you’re giving her due credit. The parts forming hands bit is kind of ass, and the alt mode is just ok, but she accomplishes a couple major things that FT and Takara failed to pull off. One, her backpack is cleaner, less obtrusive, and arguably more cartoon accurate than either of the other attempts. Two, her center of gravity/balance is huge compared to at least Takara’s, even with those tiny feet on Azalea. It’s quite easy to find a pose she will hold and stand solidly. On either version of the mold. The official Arcee’s center of balance is minuscule in comparison, and I have heard similar things about Rouge (never had one). I find Azalea to be massively sturdy, solid, and easy to balance compared to MP Arcee, who can barely stand at all.

Third, the face sculpts on both the original and the Ox repaint are both terrific. Particularly on the original. They absolutely nailed the face.

Oh Azalea is quite exceptional by the low standards of Arcee toys indeed, no argument there. I just can't say I'll ever be truly satisfied by toys that are much easier to topple over with minimal force like she is. Azalea was incredible by Arcee standards and pulled off some significant engineering feats. But she's not "cool" in the way Eris is cool and she's not amazing in the way all my favorite mps are.
