Does it really matter if the joint was near the hip or near the knee, as long as they do the same thing? MP-10 had a swivel near the elbow and MP-44 had a swivel near the shoulder, would you say that MP-10 didn't have a bicep swivel?

Would someone be so kind in posting a pic of the new and old head for comparison please?

The way most ab-crunches are been executed (barring exceptions such as FTs Motor Master and/or Superator), I am inclined not to care for an abcrunch to them been horrific sculpt breakers.

The thigh swivel, yes its.....well odd....to say the least, the way they executed it....

Yes, for me it’s a big deal. For it to be a true thigh swivel it has to swivel at or around the hip level.
The swivelling at the knee on TE-01 looks horribly odd to me.
His knees, and that stupid grey belt buckle drive me nuts when I look at mine.

Well, yes it does imo. It looks a lot more natural for certain poses. Also it breaks the sculpt of TE-01 the way it's positioned. I really still think it's one of the best figure ever made but it would definitely be even better with the thigh swivel positioned differently. It's all I am saying.

I believe the internals in the thigh due to the transformation made it impossible for a rotation up there...

But...it seems a majority of us do view a thigh swivel as a joint that actually rotates the thigh itself. The swivel down low rotates only the lower leg calf, and which I would call a knee swivel. TE doesn't have a thigh swivel in my view. But, opinions, lol.

I am sure they could have some kind of ball joint even if it only made a limited swivel, don't you think?

Not sure I'd want a balljoint relying only on friction in the hip of a 10" MP sized figure. It also wouldn't be nearly as robust as the joint they used...

Makes sense. But I am sure there could have been a way to design it. I just don't know how.

They could have made the upper leg an outer-casing that rotated around the much sturdier skeletal structure connecting to the knee. It could have been thin, too, allowing for the insides to be thick enough to handle everything.

Or, instead of a ball joint, it could have been a hip-rotator where the upper leg attaches to the mechanism by a mushroom peg (peg facing down--socket in the lower part of the upper leg). The entire front leg panel would be attached to the lower segment. That way, everything connecting to the hip and all ratchets required for strength are all still there, but the entire upper leg could rotate. The front leg panel that slides and folds around for truck mode...that whole mechanic would likely be different. But I'd trade that off for the rotation.

It can be an eyesore, no counter-arguement to this. But ill take that compromise over having a broken sculpt regardless of pose...

hey i just got one of these guys, the only issue I've had with him so far is the release switch for mid section extension isn't working no matter what i do like its not actually engaged with the mechanism.

Just decided to do a further upgrade on figure with the neck 2.0 upgrade from @transformer_78 ... Highly recommended. I have the V2 of this figure. I painted the insides of the chest windows to make them a bit more foggy in the color of blue used... The chest inserts I painted in gunmetal, but painted the insides the same shade of blue used in the windows so as to blend them in more from the outside.

    Enjoy!

Well i figured out the issue, took him apart down to his chest and the metal bar that extends down had a little nub digging into the plastic well it sits in locking it in place. Sanded down and works perfectly now.

I still love this guy so much. I have two copies of him, and I wish they'd come out with a metallic version to go with my metallic MS-01X
