Yeah, it's certainly based on rather than just copying the design. Similar idea though. I don't remember how Skeletor got god status towards the end of Eternity War since it's been a long time since I've read it... but here it appears that he's literally going to wrest the sword away from He-Man/Adam.
Yeah, the cloth cape seems off...tbh I will at least get He-man, Battle Cat, Skeletor, Panthor, MAA and Beastman. Reason being I got the Classics versions and I don’t want to “restart” another line.
This has probably been mentioned before but: What if the "something happens to HeMan early on" thing is that the demon possessing Keldor is transferred into Adam?
They're decent figures for sure, though not sure I plan on collecting them. Though that Skelegod is pretty dope.
Anyone seen the Netflix preview of the new series? He-Man was dated and over with by the time for me (G.I.Joe, Transformers, and Turtles were the popular brands), but this preview looked good and not the hooky comedic show that the original cartoon was. If it is a good series, a line done by McFarlane, Neca, or S7 would probably have a lit if interest.
Definitely. Even just an Agrax Earthshade wash coat would improve it though. Help tie it all together and give it more depth and get rid of the toy looking shine. I'm going to do a little bit more than that because for whatever reason greens are really fun to paint with. He-man needs some metallic on those bracers.
Kevin Smith recently directly refuted this claim on his Twitter account. These rumors were started by a YouTuber with a specific political agenda and he’s trying to stir the pot. I’ll be extremely happy once it debuts and definitively proves once and for all that he is wrong so he can shut up and let the rest of us enjoy it without being inflicted with his manufactured outraged constantly.
Man, it is just an animated show, I understand the hype but take it easy. Who cares what a YouTuber says after all. All is speculation untill watching the show.
that’s Exactly the point I was making to the person I originally quoted. The context you were missing is this pops up all over reddit and on Twitter every time the show is mentioned. It’s irritating to have every conversation about this show hijacked by people that feel compelled to argue about elements not even revealed yet. I realize you may not be familiar with it and it might not be as prevalent here but it is a thing that exists and I wanted to address it because somebody decided to bring it up. That’s all
“After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor (Mark Hamill), Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered,” reads the official synopsis. “And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela (Sarah Michelle Gellar) to reunite the broken band of heroes, and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.” Sounds like Teela is the POV character to me. I will gladly be wrong and I will still watch it, but Kevin Smith will say anything you want to hear to hype a show. I wouldn’t take what he says as gospel.
If Teela is the main character this time, that is actually good. No problem at all, after all He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is not just about He-Man.
Here’s where I stand: I have more faith in Kevin Smith’s take on it because he is the show runner. Also, all I want from the show just for it to be fun and feature these characters I’ve loved for 30+ years. I am open to enjoying it for whatever it is. And if I don’t, that’s fine hopefully other people do.
I agree I think they are trying to get away from the he-man and the Masters of the universe and have it just be the masters of the universe as an ensemble show. He man of course is the centerpiece as the primary hero but I think they want to make the other characters matter too
Teela was kind of badass in 200x. A couple episodes centered around her. She was kind of an asshole to Prince Adam though.
You’re absolutely right, they also position her that way in the more recent comics. I’m all for that. I would really enjoy it if all of the supporting cast got a moment to shine. I hate how many shows have the Dragon Ball problem where only the protagonist gets to do anything meaningful in the story, and the side characters are relegated to comedic bits and exposition dumps
