I find it funny that they really did this. It feels like what a 10th anniversary figure from Takara would have looked like had they not retooled the head to go further.

Did PrimeVsPrime got his copy of the figure misassembled in the tail-claw part?

That thing is not supposed to work like that, I really want to get this reissue but I don't know if this a general problem with all the copies

All this talk about the original figures were better than Kingdom are amusing. All I have to do is look at Dinobot or Black Arachnia. Sure, they aren't part of this reissue line yet, but the figures are vastly superior to the originals. Hell, I still say Rattrap is better than the original. I do still love the original Primal and Megatron though. But the articulation on Megatron was always a bit awkward with all the kibble.

What's wrong with it? It looks like it's functioning just like my vintage Megatron.

Well in the review it looks like the spring loaded claw is activated by default and not by pressing the lever.

It looks like it's misassembled just like the arm/dragon neck of the original TM2 Megatron.

That's how it's supposed to be though :) . The claw arm fully extended and closed is the neutral position. When you push the lever, the claw opens.
Here's a review of the vintage figure:

Not really. Kingdom version should be better, they are not better enough and in some cases they are not better.

Kingdom BW Megatron bot mode looks really good, love the paint but he is really light, no as sturdy as the original version. This is something very common in modern Transformers. In beast mode, the neck solution is terrible, for a modern toy this is unacceptable. The rubber skin of Kingdom BW Megatron wasn't a good idea.

Hasbro did a great job with the new Grimlock, ok the plastic quality can be better, but the design is really great. That was not the case with Kingdom BW Megatron, he should be more inspired in the MP version.

So, not a surprise many people prefer the original BW Megatron. Just like the original BW Primal.

$40AUD for a Basic figure, but the second best Rattrap figure ever made. Bargain.

One thing, you can always count on when visiting the message boards are fans expressing their feelings as fact.
Saying one is "superior" to another is an incomplete claim since it doesn't specify the qualities that serve as the premise for the claim.

Once you start to break it down to specific traits like show likeness or articulation or whatever, you'll find another fan who values a different attribute more than your chosen attributes, making the claim kinda pointless. As a statement of opinion, these same thoughts are way more worthwhile, IMO.

In my opinion. I love the Kingdom BW figures but they don't match the subjective experience of enjoyment that I have always had with the original BW figures. The originality and creativity of the original designs, the particular aesthetic, the often beautiful and high quality materials, etc. are each contributing factors for me.

My favorites are those earlier designs that diverge from the show models. Maybe it's my G1 roots at work here but I have always found the cognitive leap between differing toy and fiction designs to be part of the fun.

Anyway, If I could only have one version of each character, I don't think the Kingdom version would win for me in any matchup. I have no beef with anyone who feels otherwise. I have doubles of all of the Kingdom beasts so far. I adore them. They just aren't quite as special to me.

Oh I see where you are coming from. The original figures were definitely fun. The original Dinobot toy was much more fun to play with and transform. Rattrap and Terrorsaur were super easy and small. The Ultras were really great figures for the time and are still very fun. The new figures are definitely there as far as looks and articulation. But I understand the charm of the originals.

I just like that we're at a point where we have options. I remember when the only Beast Wars toys you had were the originals. Now we have originals, three separate iterations of reissues across like ten years, a handful of old Generations, a boatload of new Generations, plus the Masterpiece line. And even 3P is getting in on it.

I'm on cloud nine, motherfuckers. You're arguing which Waspinator is better and are the originals better toys and I'm just like "fuck it give me all of them." This is not to say discussion and comparisons are invalid, not at all and I get money and space are factors, but I don't get this live/die by what is the "best version ever" mantra. I think the G1 running out of new "ways" to do characters has predisposed us to think every new version of a character must be that ultimate version of the character by some arbitrary, subjective standard. I just want Beast Wars toys Goddammit. This new Waspinator won't make me throw away my T30 just like my T30 didn't make me throw away my original, and these reissues won't make me throw away my Kingdom toys because I still have my originals anyway and I still got the Kingdom ones.

Honestly? Same. It drove me nuts as a kid, but as an adult I have a strange affection for the unique designs of the toys. Generations/MP has only enhanced that since the "want" for show-accuracy has been satisfied, and the originals no longer have to reach that standard.

I think ultimately that’s what it boils down to…the Kingdom figures are good for older collectors, especially fans who grew up wanting more accuracy. Meanwhile the original Beast Wars figures are better toys for fans of all ages.
