Wow.... Spotting this while Scrolling though is highly disappointing when most of the focus is on what the 3rd SS86 Dinobot will be.

Hasbro is likely holding back on the rest of the SS86 Dino's in order to give these Cyber-verse things some breathing room at retail. But when looking at this, you might as well just stick with the TR Sludge.

Hahahah what?! They're two completely different target audiences.

Early figures at this price point were a bit less articulated to make room for the gimmicks, but as the line went on they found their groove. The final batch were the armor guys like this (and stuff like Skullcruncher, Thunderhowl, etc) which had a great balance of articulation and accessories.

They're great toys for kids that aren't quite ready for Generations but have aged out of Rescue Bots.

I honestly feel like Ultra Thunderhowl is a better toy than the Deluxe in every single way. Even his sculpt is a lot more cool and dynamic.

Yah. That\'s coming home with me.

Chunky, decently articulated, NuG1, dinobot, unobtrusive gimmick, neat weapon, and it\'s SLUDGE?! With the friggin blue head nonetheless!

Color me silver, gold, and red. I\'m gonna hug this thing.

    Hahahah so what?!

Don't underestimate a child's understanding of quality! Just last week I walked in a toy aisle at Walmart while a kid about 7 or 8 told his mom he changed mind and wanted that Gray Netflix Ironhide instead of a Jurassic World dinosaur he had in his hand. The mom said no because of the price difference so the boy kept the dinosaur. But you could tell by the boy's expression that cheap dinosaur had already lost most if its luster.

Now that was current but the biggest example is many of us 37 years ago choosing Transformers over Go-bots.

    The defense rest...!

Nice! Looks a bit small for an Ultra, though, looking at him in relation to the packaging.

The only likely combining Cyberverse Dinobots are the $30 "Ultimate Volcanicus" listing, which is likely a RID2015 simplified Combiner-style toy. Sludge here will not combine.

Eh, I think the transformation on the deluxe is better. I'm getting a little tired of the "put me down on all fours and change my head" transformation, but deluxe Thunderhowl's transformation is quite unique. Agree on the general robot mode look and features, though.

I would argue that it wasnt just about toy quality but quality of the media. Lets face it the cartoon and comics where we'll written for there time and still hold up today. I still cant believe most 80s cartoons had terrible dialogue to the point I cant watch them as an adult. Also I'm pretty sure size helped transformers stand out a bit more. Gobots larger figures where terrible.

    Dude, I'm a dad.

Kids don't give a shit about "screen accuracy" to a show that was over decades before they even born. They like cool robots that do cool things. And with Cyberverse the built in action features and stuff like this are great because they can transform quickly and have a cool battle feature they can flip around and play with.

Hand an MP to a kid and they'll think it looks cool but then put it down after like 5 minutes when the panels start popping off as they fumble to transform it. And they love *big* toys because in their mind big is cool and impressive.

This is a great way to get younger kids interested in the Dinobots and by the time they're older we'll be far enough out from SS86 that HasTak will be able to toss out some new Generations Dinobots for them to get.

Rescue Bots lasted 10 years, Paw Patrol has lasted almost as long. It's because they know their audience and target it accordingly.

Cyberverse is aimed directly at audiences too old for Rescue Bots but still trying to get down the motor skills and patience for Generations figures.

They're chunkier to hold up to tougher play, they don't have a ton of extra transformation bits so kids can quickly change them, and they've got unique play features that make each character and their toy stand out.

looks good to me. ill definitely be adding sludge to my cyberverse collection. i like the red & blue color scheme, something different. i especially like the tail/weapon gimmick. brings back strong vibes of AOE grimlock. looking forward to seeing more cyberverse dinobots!

As a 40-something adult stuck working at his desk 99% of the day, I appreciate the simpler, faster Cyberverse toys. They are great for keeping my hands busy while my brain is working. I can pick them up; fidget and transform them over and over again while sitting on conference calls. Generations toys are fun, but require more thought and are far less durable to thousands of repeat transformations. Plus, the Cyberverse toys are cheaper to replace when you do wear one out.

This Sludge is going to be an amazing toy!!

Ultimately I doubt anyone here would've been upset if HasTak had released or revealed more than just 2 SS86 Dinobots so far this year.

And if that would've dwarfed some of the success of this pending figure here then so be it!

I was actually wondering if we might get an Ultra Class Maccadam figure since the 4th season was teased. It would make sense for his size, and if it was decently articulated would be a pretty sweet thing!

Probably won't happen, but I didn't expect to get this guy either. Weirder things have happened...

I thought the same thing about his size, but it could be larger boxes for new figures. Who knows.

The Volcanicus likely is just a simplified Combiner, but hey, if it's all Dinosaurs, I'm down with that. Most of them aren't super able to pose to begin with!

Also, yah. I agree that the Deluxe Thunderhowl is a better engineered transformation, but even after all the steps, he is still sort of just a dog standing up. Front paws are hands, back paws are feet. If there is one solid argument I will always have for original Beast Wars toys it is that a bunch of them (definitely not all!) had really weird conversions that were more interesting than just standing the guys up.

It's the biggest problem I have with most Beast figures in the recent past, most of Kingdom excluded.

Weird opinion, but I hope there is a way to replicate the awful tail-drag thing from G1 Sludge using his new spear. It would make someone happy for sure. (Me)
