Well this certainly makes being awake at 3:00am worth it.

At first I was thinking I didn't care for how it looked, until I started noticing how mistransformed it is. The forearms aren't rotated correctly, the heels are pointed forwards and the head/chest clearly has a split that isn't being used. Judging by the heels, I'm guessing there will be a lighter shade of green inside the head, helping to break up all the darker green. I think, if transformed properly, I will like this more than the T30 one, if only for the slightly more coherent wasp form. Of course, I can't say for sure until we see how that looks.

 

I think they clearly used T30 as the starting point but modified it for modern engineering, asthetics and budget. They removed the spring loaded wing flapping play value, which allowed them to remove the internal mechanisms supporting it. Wings on either side are molded together now for modern budgeting. Ankle tilts Looks like the beast mode head still splits, just the guy forgot to do it. The thicker big legs make sense, as those where pretty fragile on the T30. 

I like it. I don\'t know if I like it more than T30 though. The beast mode is better. The robot mode is undecided. I think the thick bug legs help it in beast mode but hurt it in robot mode. A side to side comparison is going to be the only way. 

 

Yeah agreed, I needed that pick to fully understand too. The bot mode is probably mistransformed, I think it's obvious the head splits and pushes in more, the heels are also mistransformed forward

I mean, okay, yes Ive read all your reasonable comments, defenses and criticisms. 
I am with the camp of folks who are leaning more towards T30 Waspinator being a better representation of the character. 

This toy does look very interesting though. I really do like his alt mode, so definatley a pickup, even though he may not be in the main BW display. 

 

I don\'t have the t30 one so I\'m certainly getting this. Honestly I feel like both are equally flawed but at least the new one won\'t cost me a kidney, prostate and spleen. The purple wings are strange but still fine by me while I think the t30s look cheap in their look. Both do a decent but flawed wasp mode. I hate the t30 clear eyes while this one has meh forearms. Can\'t compare the gun yet. Overall I\'m glad we\'re getting him though I\'m concerned about his availability unless he gets repacked next year or if kingdom goes on longer than most years like how combiner wars did.

 

Just be sure to preorder from a retailer that isn't Target and you shouldn't have any trouble getting him

 

Looks better if you don't take the picture from an awkward angle.



New one still might look somewhat better in wasp mode (weird-looking yet scientifically accurate eyes aside), but not enough to make up for the less accurate robot mode imo.

 

Is the same angle from this pic of Kingdom Waspinator though.

 

The picture of the wasp mode makes him look like a proud dog ready to fetch for his owner. It's got an odd sense of pride in its pose for Waspinator. Wasp mode looks great, but they need to get those legs out of the way in bot mode.

 

The new one does have a few "more accurate details", the legs for example are a lot more liek the show's 3d model, but in general, both the old and the new one seem to take liberties on certain details.

 

The angle isn't particularly flattering for Kingdom Waspinator either.

 

And it still looks better.

 

Are you kidding me? T30 wins hands down for bug mode legs alone along with ten more things it does better than the kingdom one. Sadly I'll pass.

 

You can't say this one looks bad from these crappy low-res images! It isn't fair to judge. None of us have it in hand yet!

Anyway this one looks awesome and blows T30 out of the water in every imaginable way, can't wait to pick it up.

 

T30 Waspinator wasn't that accurate to the show either, it took liberties with the design, particularly the color scheme.

 

Well, I like this Waspinator better than the T30 version, better proportions and a desing that fits into WFC.

Now I can have it so my Starscream can haunt him. 


I'm still waiting for a clear plastic version of the Earthrise Starscream HasTak. 

 

I don\'t understand why people are saying tf kingdom toy are not accurate to the show. It hasn\'t come out yet. So you do t even know.  Now if your trying to compare it to 1996 beast wars. Well it not the same, Character yes,  design between both shows no. It like comparing Op animated to Op g1 and complaining that the animated one not accurate to g1. Or tfp starscream to g1 starscream.  Different shows. Different designs. So saying kingdom figures for the kingdom cartoon aren\'t accurate to beastwars cartoon just dosen\'t work.

 

Meh, the T30 one is better so I'll stick with that.

However! If HasTak has any future plans of releasing the Deluxe Insecticons, specifically Venom, while using this same mold, then I might be interested in the results of it.

 

He looks awesome, and given that I don't have the T30, I'm getting him for sure. I do prefer the beast mode on this one to T30, and honestly, the bug legs don't bother me in the least!
