Since my toy is in Bot mode most of the time, I really want to know why his shoulder armor is fixed. This problem is more important to me than his "truck ears"

We get it, the truck mode sucks. You don’t have to be an ass about it.

Anyways, The robot mode looks pretty good and the transformation seems fun. I’d get it on sale, but we don’t even know the damn price of this thing yet. It’ll probably be $150, so, just wait for a sale or buy the Ark instead. I’m already planning on getting the Ark anyways, so full price was always a pass on this for me. If a good sale comes up, I’ll get him.

I actually like SS-38 prime more than this. If I get a masterpiece figure I want some level of complexity and accuracy. This doesn't have that.

If I didn't know the size of this figure I'd guess it was a studio series release (and not even one of the best ones at that).

I doubt a improved KO can even fix this figure. Back to waiting for a "good" 3P release.

Looks good but I think I'm going to wait for a company to KO this and fix whatever issues the official has at a cheaper price.

Yeah the transformation on Toyworld is the definition of "fuck off" but I feel like they cut too many corners and went far to simplistic on the MPM. Toyworld looks way better.
They do both have the problem of the dead eyes and can barely hold their weapons tho.

Guess it's just waiting to see if a KO could do this like Wei Jiang did MPM-04 Prime (unlikely) or if Transcraft actually make theirs.

It looks to be exactly what I want. For me moving forward, MPM will be the live action go to for perfect balance of fun, value, and detail in a transforming figure. For ultra accurate robot modes I have ThreeZero DLX for my crown jewels. MPM will be to live action G1 what WFC was for cartoon/comic G1; getting that perfect balance.

Aside from planning to get a few Generations/studio series , I feel the MPM line is a better source for capturing this new detailed G1 live action transformers, that may not be possible on a Generations' scale.

$150 shouldn't be the cost for an upscaled and slightly improved Studio Series figure. One with a worse head on top.

So I guess just wait for Transcraft, will probably be around the same and look more accurate. Hopefully they fixed their plastic issue before hand.

You got to remember price and complexity though. Toyworld is like $100 more and the transformation is hell. For that I could (AND DID :lol ) buy ThreeZero figure that will be nearly 100% accurate to the film.

I THINK its $100, but not sure. Either way there are options for everyone which is good.

also because it will probably take forever for the MPM line to get to him, any rumbling of any good third-party Masterpiece BB Ironhide?

I was actually looking forward to this as the BB Optimus design is easily one of my favorite movie looks.
Unfortunately, I feel that SS-38 just does it better in nearly every aspect. The MPM, while decent looking for the most part, has nothing going for it that seems to earn the Masterpiece moniker.
If I see it on deep clearance at Target like every other MPM has done I may get it on a whim. Outside of that, I can happily live without it and enjoy SS-38 as my BB Optimus.

Why on earth is the truck stripe silver in the front and white on the sides?!

We can finally see the truck and OMG there is so much room for the shins to rotate 90 degrees inward towards each other. Why on earth didn't they do that!?

The back wheels taper towards each other. The truck is even worse than we thought.

To me it seems as though it was rushed, and that it was given to the interns to design.
May sound negative, but there are way too many missteps with this to not be disappointed in.

I agree with both of your posts.

I do think the overall robot mode does look very nice as a display piece, but even then there are a few things SS38 did better, including I dare say the arms, which had the truck panels fold up more compactly than the MPM appears to. Those solid panels on 2/4 sides of the arm just do not look good.

The vehicle mode is barely acceptable. I can't see myself paying $150 for this.

The crazy thing to me is how on earth it feels so rushed when it's coming out close to three years after Bumblebee. Several of BB Bumblebee's toys were inaccurate, including the MPM, due to being based on concept art / early renders and not the final model, but that was understandable as those toys released the same year as the movie did. You would think a figure releasing 2.5 years after the movie wouldn't have this problem.
