I just ordered seaspray so no idea about him. But beachcomber is solid, decent enough articulation and very very very clean. Also I like the simple transformation, which is weird as I never usually transform fanstoys figures but this guy was pretty cool. Mine also luckily is ok in QC department so nothing really bad.

So is there any chance for a re-issue of this guy? Maybe with a modified split "skirt"?

I want to like this, but the proportions in vehicle mode seem off, and he’s far too white (not grey) in bot mode. Am I wrong? Based on pictures alone, the XTB Arkose just looks better in both modes.

I mean, he's exactly perfect for a toon style collection. Arkose is more Hasui style. Go with whatever tickles your jollies.

You know what, you’re right! I’m seeing Beachcomber through the eyes of having the toy as a kid. So I’m trying to match the toy, which is grey. I look at the cartoon stills, and the FT colors do seem accurate. Odd that I couldn’t really see that without it being pointed out!

I didn't think I would like the proportions either but I ended up much preferring him to Arkose. I to would have much preferred grey for the bot mode though. Would have also been nice it it had included a visored face plate... especially since the head, eyes and mouth plate are all separate parts. Coming with a bunch of full separate heads was a waste. A golden hand would have been nice too.

Still have Arkose sitting around somewhere. I like the "look" of Arkose's realistic alt mode better than the cartoon alt mode of Dunerunner but Dunerunner is SO solid. Arkose... I s kinda a mess.

I get my Arkose from BBTS later today (hopefully). I may end up getting FT-43 too if I’m unhappy with Arkose since for whatever reason I really liked the Beachcomber toy as a kid. It was definitely my favorite mini bot.

I definitely prefer the look of the Arkose vehicle mode too…based on pics. The engine details look great. A red distributor cap even!

Well... I have Arkose v1.5... I understand they made additional improvements for the current version. Don't get me wrong. It IS a good figure. I have both because I really liked my old vintage G1 toy. I like them both but for different reasons and they do different things.

After having had both Arkose and Dunerunner. Even though I am a toy over toon collector, Dunerunner is easily the better figure. I do wish they had gone with a darker gray though.

I think I’m going to end up with Dunerunner for bot mode and Arkose for vehicle mode. I still really dislike Dunerunner’s vehicle mode. Though it may be “toon accurate” it lacks good detail like a typical Masterpiece vehicle mode. I think Arkose vehicle mode is a bit closer with all the engine details, seats, first aid kit, etc. Clearly there is no perfect Beachcomber unfortunately.

If you care about accessories. His plastic feels lighter and cheaper than Spindrift. The screws that swap out the heads are cheaper and more likely to strip out on removal even if you use a Jewlers Screwdriver, he lacks the heft of a diecast figure, and despite having a gazillion beach themed accessories he only comes with one blaster.

As someone that owns both I'd say that The FT both presents and feels better in bot mode. The only thing that it's lacking in is accessory offerings, and it does have quite a few screws on the back of the figure. I don't really know anyone that displays the bag of their toys though, and this isn't an issue in alt mode either. I still own a Neptune (because G2 for life), but that feels like too bold a statement to be making. Out of curiosity, do you own both?
