I think I’m getting both the Optimus Prime and Megatron. Sure the $30 Hasbro toys look fine as is, but these are much better proportioned and detailed.

It worked! I kept staring at it trying to figure out if it was the show or not.

Detailed in what way? Paint wise definitely, but sculpt wise they are basically identical, as the show doesn't add any details.

Yeah it does, there's physical scarring all over the sculpts on these as seen onscreen. Not painted on, molded in.

Here's a couple of close ups I took of the Megatron and Prime headsculpts as an example.

You can see more of these across their bodies in the pictures I previously posted. These close ups of Prime are a good example.

So yes, while obviously incredibly similar due to the heritage of the source material, these are completely new sculpts to accommodate the extra surface detail, proportion changes and articulation engineering.

I can get him for $24 with rewards and coupons, but I was considering skipping the Netflix subline...

I seriously want these. It’s as close to a ThreeZero G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron I can get, so an insta-purchase for me.

Hmmmm.... It looks like a mainline figure, just more expensive.

Looks can be deceiving. But as a collector of both, I'm kinda done with articulating why.

If you can’t tell the difference, this line isn’t for you.

Hmmm, I can tell the difference between a 3zero Bayformer and a SS figure!

Yeah, it’s like comparing a Marvel Legends figure to a Hot Toys. If they can’t see the difference, they probably shouldn’t buy any high end collectible. That, and they need an eye exam.

I’m the worst toy photographer ever, but here’s a couple of quick shots.

I really love this figure, but I have two small complaints. One, the switch for the light is in a *really* bad spot. Either you have to remove a screw every time you want the lights on/off, or you just leave the head loose. That’s just a bad design! Second, I have no idea why this is true, but many of my hands (especially the right hands made for gripping) are super soft and the weapons sag and are a bit floppy.

Overall this is a 9.5 out of 10 figure for me. The only ways to improve it would be to fix my above nits and make it a full G1 design instead of WFC.

Anyone in the US get their Megatron figure yet?
