What are you talking about? He has brown mud painted on him which I agree is hideous. But algae? Are you thinking that the green forest background in the box is painted on the figure? I don’t get it.
Algae comes in more colors than green. Some of the most obnoxious kinds of algae, which I hear about a lot, studying marine bio, are WILDLY different from the passive, mostly harmless olive green slime you’re imagining in your head.
Taking that bio into account, it's almost a shame that Grindor doesn't come with Prime's hooks to re-enact the scene.
I’ve been wondering about that black/dark gray paint underneath the front canopy windows in alt mode, so I went looking through pics of CH-53s to see if that’s an actual thing. Turns out it is! However, it’s a much lighter bluish gray on actual CH-53s

Almost like the filmmakers didn't give a shit about continuity. Please don't buy a toy for the bio. Thing is we knew this was out there a day or two before the last FFF. The one that was for Studio Series, and totally snubbed the Bayverse SS line. And they whined about the leakers there, too. They had every chance to run out in front of this and they blew it. I just rewatched it for the first time in a decade and its still trash, but it also bugs me how much "inappropriate" language and innuendo are in these movies. I'm not a prude by any means, and regularly watch far more extreme horror films, but this is still a thing made to sell toys to kids, and they have a cockbot running around?
God I can see it now: Every year hundreds of Grindor's are mercilessly poached for their hands, the rest of the body being discarded in the Walmart aisles to rot. Despite being a protected species, their numbers are rapidly dwindling, and its expected that they will go extinct within the next year.
Eh I watched the first two films when I was 6 and most of that stuff like the weed brownies just went over my head. Like no six yr old should know what bloody reefer is.
I just checked out Grindor on TFwiki. Oh my gosh- the Bayverse producers really didn't give a shit. Although- making a new character out of an existing mold does have precedent......
One thing I had about the fandom is that this character could have been Soundwave like he originally intended to be...but internet fans were like NOOOO Soundwave can't have a vehicle mode, he has to be cassette player. More or less, Blackout/Grindor kinda fulfills that role that Soundwave did.

I guess they only care about Camaro fronts. Cant say I would be able to tell difference between the two helicopters. Im assuming that the CGI model for Grindor was basically Blackout regardless of what helicopter the military brought out for the short alt mode scene. Maybe the military brought the wrong helicopter by mistake or the right one wasnt available due to deployment. Id bet Michael Bay said nobody will know the difference or maybe he didnt know himself.
I didn’t even notice the devastator balls till yrs after. Actually with all that stuff gone it makes the films decent.
I’m pleasantly surprised we got articulated hands and even what looks like some new paint on his head so consider my expectations surpassed. Grindor barely looked any different from Blackout so it is what it is. Ravage is definitely a skip for me though, I’m gonna have to go for the Legends Ravage. He’s also the resident Megs loyalist in the first film, helping the comparison even more.
