Ok scratch my original opinion on this figure. This actually looks really good. I probably won\'t get it because of the price, but I hope those who can afford it don\'t have any engineering/paint problems

I really like everything I'm seeing here but lawd that price tag!

 

Kinda still like the V1/V1.5 jet mode more. I know people don't really care about the underside but just seeing the chest there even if it's a little covered is a let down. Saying that I do like the proportions more and I do think a lot of works gone into it... But I think I might keep my Green-Scream v1 MP.

 

It almost looks like the whole part is clear plastic painted gray. I hope not, otherwise you'll get 1 or 2 transformations before it gets scratched.

 

People wanted a fake cockpit to make they proportions look all goofy cartoony. Well they got one !

 

Looks pretty good to me so far. Surprisingly clean in robot mode. Hopefully qc is good. Looking forward to posing this as it’s far more poseable than the prior 2 versions.

Wish the horizontal stabilizers were a little bigger but I get that they needed to be that way for transformation.

 

That jet mode is where it’s at.

 

The previous jet modes are better no doubt, they clean up better. However I’m hoping this one overall feels sturdier. I didn’t think the previous ones were fragile but I knew they weren’t as sturdy as a figure like MP-10 and the rest of the car bots. If this new one is solid and doesn’t feel prone to any cracks/breakage, I’ll be pretty happy.

I don’t think it’ll change, given the timing(out later this month). What Takara could’ve done was paint the canopy frame in a darker color 1st like primer black or primer grey, then paint over it with a lighter grey. I’ve seen this technique on aircraft model kits, it makes the frame look more realistic from angles where you’d see the underside of it.

 

V1 still has the best planemode on a transformer ever, imo. Hardly any kibble, sleek and almost no robot parts visible.

 

So is the stark contrast between thunder cracker false cockpit and skywarps just an illusion due to the color scheme? I see everyone on this thread happy to see the opaque qualities in starscream matching thundercrackers but I am much more worried about Skywarp sticking out like a soar thumb. I have the previous version of each of these characters but I really like the more animated versions. But the cockpit difference might be the selling point for me since collectively all three will cost around $800 after tax and shipping.

 

I think this turned out really well and I’m dying to get it in hand. I’m really happy that the in-hand pics of Starscream and Thundercracker appear to have matching bot mode canopies now. Gives me hope that Skywarp will match as well.

The painted chest over clear orange is a bit concerning but I’m not really worried about it being fragile. And I don’t think it will be an area prone to chipping. For transformation the stand mounting plate on his back covers the bot chest so I don’t think the bot chest even moves for transformation. The grey colour is definitely off from the rest of the figure but I’ve seen many examples where the camera will exaggerate slight colour variations so I’m hoping in hand it wi be less obvious. Remember Arcee’s pics right before she released showed mis-matched white paint on her legs and people were freaking out. In hand she matches very well with no issues. I think this figure will be the same.

First thing I noticed given the yellowy grey of the final released version of MP-11 looked nothing like the painted prototype.

At least it's confined to one area this time, but alas that area is central...

The greys here, again, are definitely disparate and I doubt it's gonna change much before the final release, so ..... brace yourself for Grey-gate.  

 

Starscream's really got to cut down on some of those deserts.

Also MP is the last place I'd expect them to pull a mainline with painted over clear plastic, but after some of the releases I'm not surprised.

 

Paint on the fake cockpit chest bit looks too thin.

 

Just about any area with windows is painted translucent plastic.Normally the color matching is so spot on you dont really notice,hope this is more a case of lightning and the camera picking up what the eye normally doesnt.

 

It's nice to see a comment from someone who understands and is coherent on the topics he addresses. It's like a breath of fresh air.
I, too, am a bit concerned/disappointed about the colour opacity of the paint on the chest, but if it bothers me a lot in person I can just mask and add an extra layer of grey myself to help even out the tone. Should I have to do that for an expensive MP release? No. Definitely not. I'm hoping this thing will be flawless and impressive, otherwise the KO companies will just continue to earn my money. If I'm going to pay for mediocrity, it might as well come at a lower price.
