Saw this posted on Hiss Tank. It was also mentioned that Necrons and Orks are coming, just not this year.
Man, I've always wanted something like this ever since I first saw the space marine models back in the early 90s
It has a butterfly joint! For such a small figure I hope the quality is good. I noticed the bottom part of the Marine has been change perhaps for the sake of better articulation.
Yeah, this is take my money for sure. Looks amazing. I wonder if these are gonna be available through Games Workshop's shops or through wherever you can buy JoyToy figs.
Bad news for all those interested in these figures: it seems that the license agreement between Games Workshop and Joy Toy will only allow the figures to be sold within the Chinese territory, therefore, they will not be offered to any foreign carrier or importer, it is also unclear whether China-based authorized stores or sellers will be able to sell them to foreign customers and there are also no plans for an international release, at least not for now, although there are rumors that Games Workshop itself could sell some limited quantities within the UK.
There are territory restrictions with most licenses like Star Wars and Marvel and they get sold here anyway -- at a premium price. I don't see how this would be any different. Just be prepared to pay through the nose if you want them. Personally, I'm happy to save the money. Joy Toy is doing a lot of cool stuff right now and I'm going broke just trying to keep up with their normal releases.
So they say. I'd be lying if I told you that this restriction thing didn't take me by surprise, I find it weird since I have read that Warhammer is not quite popular in China, so I suppose they might be introducing the franchise and capture some potential fans for the game. These figures were going to be my return to the 1:18th scale and my very first Joy Toys but I'll have to wait and see what happens later. I'm more of a casual toy buyer and at the moment I'm more focused on some imported Japanese figs, fingers crossed for an wide release for this stuff later though.
The weird thing to me is that there are Bandai premium figures and McFarlane figures but at a completely different scale than these, both sold in the US, so I wonder why the license restriction. Too bad, as I'm not a big enough fan of the franchise to pay through the nose for these but would have definitely picked more than a few up at the regular Joytoy spots if they were available.
It seems yet another asian company will also be releasing Warhammer stuff, they seem to be more in line with the McFarlane and Bandai figures in terms of scale, curious. As for the JoyToy figures, the "early birth" release prices were 449 yuan ($70 bucks) per 4-pack and 798 yuan ($124 bucks) for all the 8 ultramarines and they have 17 different products planned. I wonder what prices will be when they pop up on Evilbay.
No sorry, they were only sold by the JoyToy's local sales "channels", I don't know if they are already for sale in places like Taobao or AliExpress, I know the Locker Toys store will be making an announcement about it soon.
