If you have the original 1.0 release, the changes aren't spectacular, except maybe the translucent windows. In my case however, I don't have the original colored Prime, only ms-b18x+ metallic. And because of this reason, I'm totally happy with this reissue  

 

My chest doors seem equal, but I will tell you that I do have the same nylon plastic markings on the shoulders in almost the same exact "defect signature". The top of his right shoulder is especially bad.

 

Thank you for the excellent side by side pics. Indeed, the red plastic looks almost identical with the new one being maybe just a touch darker.

So my impulse but upgrade kit for the original MS Prime arrived today...

Its amazing how much better it makes this already awesome figure IMO.

Yes some of the extras will almost never get used but even so... I really like it!!  

Well worth the extra few quid for me.

Love it a lot, the upgrade kit really does make it look better.

 

Hello, I've never bought any 3rd party legends before. I was wondering if this would scale with the core class figures from kingdom. I like all the G1 based core offerings except Prime, so I'm looking for a sub. Thanks.

 

no it will not. i dont have any core class but from what i remember they are much smaller than a standard legends bot. especially a leader size one like this op.

if you are looking for one that might work try the old dutch mold from DX9. it was a smaller prime that some people really liked. im sure you can find one for like 15 bucks these days.

 

You know, if MS was clever, they'd sell the trailer separately.. but make it more of a hero transform.. make it split and transform into the Teletran monitor, med bay table, etc. That way you can display it in alt mode, and when Optimus is a bot, as the Ark accesories. I'd buy it at the higher price it would have to be, and those who don't want it don't have to get another trailer (The one they showed is nice that it has more detail, but is still mostly useless looking for a display.)

At least it's clear from these pics V2 is definitely an upgrade over V1 (I'll still love you V1  ).

 

Maybe the price makes the difference. 50€ vs 100€. For 50€ the v1 it's a perfect Prime... For 100€ not all the wallets can afford (or accept) that price.

 

Maybe they are trying to recoup losses? Or they have extra stock and just want to get every last penny they can before retiring the mold.
