Happy Well just reissued their Valkyrie in G1 Jetfire colors last year. All plastic, though, but the stickers are all tampographed on now.

I think they ironed out the problem of them facing sideways in altmode. Now they can sit completely flush.

I was in a thread on reddit and it sent me down a rabbit hole of looking at BB Optimus 3p/KOs.

I have Wei Jiang God of War already, and it's easily one of my favorite bots, but from what I've seen of WJ M-09 / Fire Scorpion / Metal Dition he seems like a worthy upgrade. PvP says he prefers him to the Toyworld version which is... a bold claim.

I realize that Wei Jiang had some problems last year, but they seem to be creeping back, but it doesn't seem to be in stock at the usual places I look. Before I roll the dice with sub-1k chinese ebay sellers, does anyone have any leads?

Edit: Thanks for the heads up about chosen prime. That's... a little more than I wanted to spend but $30 to not get a box of legos is probably worth it.

    Yeah. Hoped for better.

If I saw that Happy Well one in Five Below, I might walk out with it though.

The Happywell version is a bit junky, but still sort of charming. It has ratcheted joints, the canopy glass is still a separate transparent piece, and the landing gear is still diecast.

I just got my BPF Magnus the other day as well! Honestly, he seems like a nice improvement on the original without being completely out of scale like the OSKO Siege Prime and Megatron (which are pretty much MP scale). The overall quality of the hardware seems pretty good, though I'm pretty sure the official one had stronger hip ratchets (the OSKO that I have has VERY soft hip ratchets).

I also got the 1:1 KO's of SS38 Optimus and TLK Voyager Megatron. Megatron is quite nice and great for the price; his transformation is pretty intuitive, and though his bot mode doesn't look nearly as good as Dragoon, it's a lot easier to get there :p  SS38 is alright, but has issues with his legs - honestly a lot of tabs are just way too soft and his legs don't stay together. I've read that it's an issue with the official as well but I can only imagine it's more pronounced with the KO. Still a good figure for just $10 though.

I have the BMB Dragoon KO but haven't unboxed yet - not sure if I should keep it or just sell it for the price I bought it as the 1:1 Voyager KO might be good enough for me, haha. I'm not too much of a fan of the Bayverse movies but I did get the Aoyi Mech SS38 OSKO and UT Challenger, and I figured this Dragoon KO would look good with them. But his transformation seems like a mess... one of the things that I love about the movie bots are their intuitive transformations and great alt modes (namely the SS38 KOs, UT Challenger and DX9 La Hire). Not sure Dragoon has that same magic.

I dont own Dragoon so I cant comment there, but I do own an SS38 Nemesis variant. Mine doesnt seem to suffer from tabbing problems. I too am not a fan of the movies just got him because I found it cheap as well so I was like "Why not?".

Good to know that overall Magnus is solid.

Need a bit of advice in here.

I am trying to transform BPF Magnus form Bot mode to truck and I cant for the life of me remove the wrist armor and utab his shoulders. IS there something I am missing or those are simply too tight?

EDIT: Managed the shoulders by using a spludger.

I'd definitely love an OS Astrotrain, especially if they could integrate a gap filler for the back of his shuttle mode or maybe even reengineer that part of him so that one's no longer needed.

If they'd make Leader-sized KOs of Jetfire and Scorponok I'd be all over those too, but USKOs don't really seem to be a thing, and they'd probably need substantial redesigning to compensate for areas where the plastic might get too thin when scaled down.

ID be happy if they just KO And redeco Jetfire into SG. Or at the very least just KO him at all....Ill do the painting myself....

Mine are strong enough. Not loose at all, not popping out. If anything they need force to pop out.

EDIT: Finished: Alt mode sucks donkey ass...But I kinda knew that.

I quite like the alt-mode. I just don't like all the parts-forming bits you have to assemble to make it.

But then, I always thought RID Ultra Magnus' alt-mode was pretty cool looking.

    Well....Taste I guess?

Agreed on the partsforming bit. I can sincerely understand after today why so many people hate this kind of transformation.

I think that the RID / Siege Magnus truck mode is inherently a cool design (which is actually rather accurate to contemporary Japanese trucks). Unfettered from simple nostalgia for his weird G1 "Earth" mode, I'd say it's objectively cooler looking than the "classic" form... which ultimately is just a white Optimus with a rather improbable-looking trailer.

But there's definitely something to be said for the way the G1 trailer (whatever its structural failings) is mostly integrated. The trailer transforms into his shell in one piece... and then you put a hat on him. The Siege version breaks into a bunch of awkward chunks that you have to fiddle with awkwardly as you try to line everything up into a trailer and clip it in place.

I will say this for the original Siege version... the Hasbro edition seemed to hold together better in trailer mode compared to the BPF version. Not sure if that's the tolerances or just the weight...?

I've asked this before, but I can't find the answers.

Apart for the CBB Combiner Wars figures, what other makes/copies are good quality Combiner Wars figures that are also 1:1 in scale?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting the video review of this Happy Well VF-1S. Where can one acquire a toy like this? If the price is reasonable enough, I just might pick up a few of them.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, but as a G1 Marvel junkie I'd buy an undersized Scorponok in a heartbeat. I love mine, but I REALLY want him to scale better to my MP Starscream and Optimus Prime per the comic scale. Hell, I'm not a Fortress Maximus fan at all but if one came in a matching undersized scale it would also be an instant buy for me.

That's why I have Siege Jetfire on my MP shelf since the scale to TE-01 is pretty spot-on for Marvel scale.

Whats the problem and you call improbable the car carrier? The missiles? I Dont find it either cool or bad myself, its just a truck. However the MP version is a beautiful truck. I have no feelings for the Cybertron/Rid alt-mode. I just dont like it from a purely aesthetic perspective and the fact that its completely useless for play (not that I plan on playing with it, but it would have scored a point of two if you could do what its supposed to do). Same for the Kingdom variant.

No idea dont have the original. I dont think there is a weight problem with mine though. What I havent figured out is why the left blue section/grid doesnt properly align so to tab in place. But I believe that I havent aligned/transformed something properly in that chaos of a transformation...if you can call that puzzle transformation.

Also I never believed ill like Magnus as an inner prime, but I guess it won me over. If only it hadnt those leg clips showing.

Totally with you on that. My Siege Jetfire chills with my MPs too. I have the original Toyworld Infinitor who is a great leader-sized Fort Max, and a matching Scorponok would be sweet (for now, I just have the Energon version). For now Infinitor stands facing TR Overlord.

I mean it just literally does not look like any car-carrier trailer ever made on Earth. It's really chunky and boxy and futuristic, and the bright primary colour scheme sort of exaggerates that for me. I always thought it was a bit goofy looking for those reasons. The cab is perfectly realistic of course, as a Diaclone Convoy repaint... I know this was an original Diaclone set, but for me the trailer just doesn't quite match the style of the cab at all. The cab looks like a Matchbox diecast vehicle, and the trailer looks like Fisher-Price.

Over the years, I've kind of gotten used to it, but if you look at it with an outsider's eye, it's actually pretty weird.

I remember the first time I came across the Japanese version of the RID Magnus in an import store, and I was like "wow, that's a hell of an Ultra Magnus truck update!". It's a much more aggressive design, while simultaneously looking much more realistic.

However, I agree that as a transforming toy, it's basically garbage. The robot mode is such an unsatisfying mess. But then... so is the G1 Ultra Magnus toy, I guess...

I haven't carefully investigated, but despite the parts-forming, I never had any trouble getting the official Hasbro Siege Magnus into alt-mode, but with the BPF it feels like a chore. Not sure what the difference is... maybe the tabs and clips just aren't as tight.

I like the "inner Prime" design from the standpoint of it being true to the original toy, but narratively it always seemed to raise more questions than it answered, so I get why the cartoon basically ignored that whole side of it.

I want one! What scale is it? Which sccalr is the original?
