Curious what his name will be.

One gripe I have with most of my FT figures...they can't look down.

Exactly, just like grinder. Can't make humanoid figures without a neck. Its part of the anatomy.

If needed maybe @transformer_78 can design and sell an extended neck that offers greater range of motion like he did with TE-01.

I....I don't think you are allowed to do this....openly criticize an FT figure/FT in an FT thread. You are just suppose to say everything they do is amazing and perfect and move on. You must not have received a copy of the rules.

Whoops that was a typo. It was meant to read "I have no gripes with my FT figs, and I hope no one ever makes neck mods for them".

This one is probably going to be reworked anyway, because right now blurry or not it's not looking better than TE's overall , especially those feet.

No doubt. Plenty of time to refine it before it comes out in 2024.

"What the hell is this? This guy just said something NEGATIVE about Fans Toys... The gaul... The power exuding from him must be massive to make a ballsy take like that!"

Not gonna lie, that's clear cut what was in my mind after seeing one of the earlier replies to that post, haha.

I can without a shadow of a doubt agree with you on this one. From observation on my end, that's definitely something among a couple other things i've noticed as of late.

Full disclosure, I say observation as I do not have a single Fans Toys figure in-hand as of yet. I do have on PO, in the case of ones releasing this year specifically, Brawn, Beachcomber, Astrotrain, Drag Strip and Seaspray 2.0.

My main gripes personally come more first and foremost from the articulation in general. Main examples being Air Raid and Brawn. With the lack of a waist swivel with the backpack in position almost in MP-45 fashion on both, kind of a bit of a deterrent for me if I was judging solely on that. Obviously that isn't across the board as we have some like Wildrider and Beachcomber that are just knock-outs across the board.

My only other gripe mainly just is moreso a mix of aesthetic and material. And watch me go into broken record mode now when I say this...

Only one extra face with most of these releases?

As someone who still doesn't completely write Takara out, should the product in question not be a crumbling mess, the extra faces are a big reason they keep me buying their product, as it is central to the overall style of Takara Masterpiece. Which is to me, the one aesthetic that tickles my entire fancy, kibble and shit aside. Not to mention, that as someone who also collects SH Figuarts Dragon Ball figures, which tend to come with at least 3 interchangeable faces each, it resonates even more for whenever I display the two together or take pictures of them.

    SH-Figuarts-Son-Goku-04.jpg

Kinda why it's a nice breath of fresh air when we see figures like Beachcomber who just get it at least just about right, while a bit bare boned. A straight face, a pout and a smile. Throw in a shouting face instead of the pout and that's basically the basics that I would say goes for a Masterpiece Transformer. But in Beachcomber's case, the pout is perfect, as of course that will let us all depict the final scene from "The Golden Lagoon", so yeah, knockout job with the faces by Fans Toys.

But also, comes as a bit of a gut punch when the same philosophy can't be said the same for say, Perceptor 2.0.

Watch everyone just call me "Smiler" like Atomizer did for Ultra Magnus at this point.

    :lol

Needless to say, i'm still absolutely hyped for what I pre-ordered and put my deposit towards, Fans Toys-wise. Just hoping that they really hit the mark with them. While I do understand that they're more skewed towards the "display piece" sector of the fandom, and i'm more of a player with my collection pieces than the average displayer, it's still Fans TOYS. Not to say that they're not giving it their all, I have no doubt that they are, but I think they need to broaden their focus and make sure that they can try to prevent the missteps we've seen with those backpack-less waist swivels and minor lack of articulation, as of late.

Surprised nobody dug this thread out yet! :)  Go on then.

As with Jazz, nobody seems to know where these originated. It's definitely brand new clear renders of Mirage, but to me the colouring looks very very very photoshopped rather than coloured in the CAD program. And since when did FT ever do coloured renders? So I'm taking the colouring and deco with a big grain of salt until we know it's official. Figure looks fantastic though!!

Kinda sucks TFW gets these third hand via Facebook rather than being dropped here by the man himself! :(  What did we do to @dalianjj??

I really hope that "Citanes" is actually on the final figure. I'm overall very happy with Transform Element's Mirage, but that godforsaken "Gitanes" immediately doomed it to replaceable status as soon as it was revealed.

Looking at this again, i'm left with one question.

    upload_2021-5-25_15-5-28.png

    Where's the neck, man?

Looks great but that's really the one thing that's throwing things slightly off for me.

Why the downgrade? I thought they'd be flush with cash from 2021 business practices.

I don't really see it as a downgrade, just necessary updates to make it function properly. I'm glad they didn't overdo the engineering just to shave 1 cm off the leg panels.

Is it really that hard to add a neck?

I'm looking at a TNMT figure here for crying out loud. I sure hope it's the angle of the digi or that this is a WIP. Come on.

Legs also look much better on the rough prototype.
