I’m starting to falter. I wanted this really bad, but these knee issues combined with the left out gimmicks, reversed arm transformation, and reports of weak plastic are making me think I may cancel.

I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. I want more late Japanese G1 designs and I’m worried they won’t make more if this doesn’t sell well, but I don’t want to buy a shoddily built and badly engineered product.

I wrote to PSX customer service about the big issue, and they answered this:

    Hi,
We are sorry to hear about it.
We will send you a kit to fix the knees. Wait for the tracking number please.
    Thanks.

So MMC know about the main problem, and are trying to fix it.

I think I have to defend the toy. It is what you see in pictures, nobody is trying to trick you. It's a giant, fun, quite posable, pretty robot. The alt mode, well, is reasonably similar to the G1 toy. The plastic quality is good enough, it's a solid action figure. If you like Star Convoy design, you will love this version. If you never liked it, Stellarus was never meant for you.

I just wish TCP (or any US retailer) would get theirs in already so I can get mine. From what I’ve seen I’m confident I’ll be able to find a remedy for the legs, or deal with them, until MMC sends a replacement part. I should have preordered from PSX for the free shipping.

Still super excited to get this in hand- more than any other 3P release this year. The simple old-school style transformation is actually a selling point for me.

They know, that's why they posted the video showing the fix.

Saaaaaame! A lot of factors that people seem to consider cons about this figure are actually pros for me - for instance, I *love* both the simple transformation and the heavy reliance on base plastic colors instead of paint that can chip or scratch. I'm definitely hoping that the knees on my copy hold out - locks would have been magical - but on the whole every review has only raised my excitement level, even with the potential fixes that lie in wait. Stellarus (and Star Convoy in general) might not be for everyone but damn if this release doesn't hit a lot of my sweets spots as a collector :D

So the issue is the spring tabs warping. Since it comes with the legs depressed is there something pushing against them that would cause that warp?

Its got to be the thigh. Which is why it wasnt painted. Man thats a bummer. I ordered mine from bbts so its going to be in its packaging for a long time before i get it. No chance it will not collapse.

If that is in fact the cause of the problem, you just have to switch the upper and the lower spring tabs. Could be the easiest fix and thankfully there isnt pin pushing involved.

That's...actually not a bad temporary fix. @Peaugh feel like doing a follow up video and compare the upper and lower tab and swap them and see if it changes anything?

Happy to confirm it works! I also didn’t need to use any glued supports, I just stuffed some little folds of paper towel into the slot before I reinserted the springs and now it holds super well!

I’m so close to buying one on PSX and bending over for the shipping, but I know -KNOW- that the moment I do that it will arrive at a US shop and I’ll end up paying more and waiting longer. Patience is difficult when the want is strong.

I feel you. I've checked Toy Dojo and TCP every day for the last week or so to see if it's in yet.

Yeah I already got mine from PSX a few days ago. I live in Florida, and the shipping was free when I order it.

I did what you did switch the tab added a little paper towel. Done, fix, perfect... I've push/pull the leg in and out over 100 times to see the durability after the fix. Yeah perfection, no issues at all, Stellarus got his knees transplant and is now good to go.

I was gonna post about a fix but I see everyone is already ahead of me, lol.

in case anyone was considering, a little nail polish also does the job once it's dried.

even floor polish would work, or anything to stiffen or heighten the spring/latch.

I used nail polish and now it's super tight in bot mode.

he reminds so much of the Japanese vinyl type action figures of the 70s :D
