Could some of the G2 figures be Shattered Glass characters to reduce redundancy?  G2 Dinobots are the Shattered Glass Dinobots, stuff like that to give them more meaning.

What kind of floorless argument is this? "Some more expensive items exist, so that magically changes the historical fact that the cheaper a product is the less likely it is to scare away parents shopping!" is an absurd claim, and that is not getting into the fact that your average "100 dollar kids toy" are things with clear indicators of that price point such as being huge inflatable pools, STEM programming tutorial robotical toys, electronic trucks big enough to ride inside of or massive LEGO sets. It is very unusual to find a 10 inch (or less, since it is unliely the box of this Optimus toy is the same height as the toy itself) figure trying to go for that price range.

The SG Dinobots aren't G2 colors though. They're Trypticon colors.

Parents aren't scared away from big ticket toys because smart parents balance the big ticket toys with the less expensive ones. If they didn't sell well enough, they'd stop existing.

It's also why you see *more* of the smaller items compared to only a few big ticket ones each quarter. Because parents buy those big ticket items as gifts, and kids have birthdays (and holidays) throughout the year.

If someone thinks "expensive toys scare parents away" just look at the toy box of your average Paw Patrol fan.

It's not even about "scaring parents away" it's about how much they can afford to charge while turning a profit on the toy before they either have to change the design to reduce cost or increase the price to keep up the profit margin.

And that game is where you see stuff like Cyberverse where they try to maintain the price point while reducing the engineering, while Generations slowly creeps up in price while trying to maintain the engineering.

Thanks, I didn't know what color they were in SG.

No. No no no no no!

Let repaints be what they were intended for. Stuff like using G2 decos or Diaclone decos were just short cuts for FunPub to get out fan wants but it's a lazy approach, IMO. Let G2 be G2. Let Diaclone be Diaclone. Shattered Glass should just be stuff like inverting the colors on the color wheel or more evil looking versions of themselves. Starscream taking Jetfire's color scheme is brilliant...but Jetfire needs to go the distance by taking Screamer's grey, red and blue deco to make the dichotomy complete. And so and so forth.

I'm REALLY scared Hasbro is going to do the zombie Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus version of the Delta Magnus deco rather than give us a proper Delta Magnus. This is why crossing the streams with other decos "to give them more meaning" is a bogus idea because it can kill chances for things getting done properly.

Except that's not what SG is all about. SG Soundwave isn't Blaster colors, and neither SG Prime nor SG Megatron borrow the other's color scheme. They're something new.

Jetfire, for example, is purple/black in SG.

That's fine if it's new (although I think Jetfire is a missed opportunity and just someone wanting to repurpose an existing figure from Henkei). I'd just prefer blue Bluestreak to not be Shattered Glass Bluestreak. Let Diaclone Bluestreak be himself or another character from the Diaclone side of things like Cardon, Deep Cover, etc.

...I have literally no clue what's going on here. The image is so small, all I can make out is Prime. :p

I know the official street date for these isn't supposed to be until September. That feels so far away. I hope someone finds a way to get these out earlier.

    Any day now....

Any day now would be good...

    Name Brand
    + Plastic Crack
    + Sound & Voice Chip
    + Lights
    + Auto-Transform Engineering
    + Leader Size
    + Inflation of Everything
    = $50

That sounds reasonable for a new, first-run toy of this calibre. I don't need a sixth Cyberverse Bumblebee, but I'm definitely getting that Optimus.

Bumper fists. [Shrug] I can easily live without these.

    Edit;
What I don't understand is how the Authentics line is doing this better for far less.
For $12 and change I've got a Voyager sized Cyberverse Shockwave with almost full articulation, gimmick free.

How can these be worth $50? Electronics are cheap.

Cheap electronics are cheap. These seem like they are more advanced. They look way better than authentics, and who wants figures without gimmicks? I'd prefer all my figures come with gimmicks, even if I I have to sacrifice some articulation.

That's okay. We obviously are of opposite mind sets and there's nothing wrong with that. For me, the transformation is the gimmick. Not that I don't have some gimmick-ridden figures in my collection, because I definitely do.

I have Shockblast and and Energon Unicron for instance, but they still have articulation. Those two figures (Thread topic) are just not meant for me.

Apearently, they're meant for you. Happy hunting, my friend. :)

Authentics look and feel like Knock Offs in their packaging when on the shelves though. The sorts of transformer type toys you expect to find in the pound & thrift stores and discounter supermarkets. Which, well certainly here in the UK is the only place you seem to find them.

Authentics are dirt cheap, look dirt cheap and sell really well. Even the big ones are cheaper than a starbucks.

These roll and change are not for me. They are aimed at the demographic that have just grown out of rescue bots so the 3-6 year olds in real terms.

Like cyberverse in general they are aimed at the younger demographic who want toys to play with.

I can see why these exist, where colourful limited articulation large figures with decent electronics and gimmicks will sell well especially with the transformers branding. These will sit alongside power rangers, wwe, hot wheels/monster jam, DC 30cm figures etc etc.

Nothings cheap anymore though. Any branded gimmicked toys with electronics and autonomy seem to sit around this price bracket.
