The majority of that... Whatever you want to call it is comprised of small children, some older K-12, all of which are kids. Hasbro sells to them, the kids don't ask to be sold to. That's not really how this business works. Look at how much adult collectors cry and aren't heard. You really think they care what a kid thinks, over at Hasbro? Not when it comes to toys.

Blaming a target audience for a multinational billion dollar company doing what they do is misplaced.

And honestly, we should be glad any kids are playing with toys. We don't want them fully consumed by screens and the garbage that goes with them. Toys at least keep their minds and coordination functioning.

Kids have more competing for their attention in the modern age. Collectors have always been a minority audience because kids are the main audience for toylines. I'm not sure what implications are being read from those thoughts but blame didn't even register in my mind when I typed that.

Who said I was blaming the kids? I only stated facts that we "adult children" are the minority here. A rather noisy minority at that. Heck I always read here abouts of the endless tsunami of Bumblebees etc etc. Well, they ain't for us "collectors" but for the majority target customers who are the real "kids".

After having this for about 24 hours, I can see where the money went. The transformation is on par with what you would expect from a masterpiece. It has its faults. Getting the trailer closed properly is a PITA and they could have splashed some more paint around, but the play value on this thing is massive. My son has not put it down. It has been the centre point of every game he’s played since we got it last night. It does so much more than SS86 Hot Rod does.

I get that not everyone will be impressed by this but it’s really grown on me. And I paid more than you lot will.

 

Your posts have me more hyped than I was before! I preordered two of them when they first went up. I have MP-28, SS86 Hot Rods but never a Rodimus Prime. The masterpiece never caught my interest. But this I absolutely love and can’t wait to own.

 

Are the exhaust pipes blast effects blue inside just like the rest of the Rodimus effects?

As an adult collector I am enjoying the opportunity to capture my childhood. I’m stocking back these gems for my future grandkids. They will have what I never achieved... complete Autobot and decepticon teams to play with.

 

Lets spin it like this....., what if it was a different character, that gets more figures released of...., an ironhide.

So it supposed to be the g1 movie design but they completely fucked it up and the hood of the van mode is way too long...., BUT..., it has bendy fingers, it's abit taller than the previous ironhide, and it's roof cannon sled has working pistons....., because "playability".

...., and hasbro want $80 ballpark for it

If anything, it's slightly simplified ss86 transformation. The chest no longer has the spin around and flip out fake to make room for the matrix chamber, so thats reduce parts and engineering. The lower legs look pretty much the same, hardly more steps, the back of bot mode that becomes the back end of the car is thicker or wider to compensate for the matrix chamber. It's a simplified hotrod ss86, theyve dumbed down the upper body..., like how they forgot to re engineer earthrise primes legs from siege, and instead had them not transform at all.

This essential ss86 hotrod, with bits removed, not replaced with anything spectacular..., and increased price.

The upper body decreases parts count loads.

It's not rocket science.

 

There is a static Bust sitting at GameStop with Zero playability and far less detail for 59$ so any argument of price/engineering/playability is Mute.
