I figured this was worthy of its own thread. This has the potential to be huge. 1/18 scale Warhammer 40K allows for vehicles and other mech which is something that Joy Toy are already doing with their own line. My mind starts to race thinking about all the possibilities, as long as it is going to be way more than just Space Marines and the various differently coloured subsidiaries, such as the T’au Empire, Necrons, Drukhari, Tyranids and Orks.
Is this the first license that Joytoy has gotten? I'm irrationally excited too. Where's a good place to order some of their stuff (I know Amazon has some but I believe that's overpriced compared to just importing)? I want to try some out before I jump into stuff like the mechs.
JoyToy have done small scale licensed products such as the Crossfire line based on an online game Joy Toy CrossFire Action Figures, Statues, Collectibles, and More! BBTS, ShowZ and Locker Toys stock Joy Toy
So, $30-35 for a GIJoe-scaled figure? I don't really see them doing anything outside of Marines, IG and possibly Tau, but it's going to be interesting seeing how they turn out. Their stuff does look good.
More like $15 - 35. The single figures tend to cost more while the squad packs are more economical per figure. Their Space Marines will be balling, but I'm hoping JT will flex those creative muscles and drop some great Tyranids, Necrons and Tau. If Hiya can do passable Predators and Aliens then IT should be able to knock WH40k out of the park.
Oh god I'm fucking screwed. Please. PLEASE! Pre-Heresy and Horus Heresy stuff! Legions Astartes! Traitor Legionnaires!!
Curious to see how the line compares to McFarlane's. The potential for stuff like Landraiders and Carnifexes is cool. That pricetag for just one 4" figure is not. Also gotta see how quickly they move past Space Marines. McFarlane obviously has a head start, but maybe Joy Toy can convince me to jump ship before I get in too deep?
It’s a shame GW is only letting companies make Primaris stuff now, the older armor patterns look so much better and I’d kill for good 1/18 figures of them. Especially Terminators, which even GW won’t even make good new models for aside from limited edition blind boxes. I also want to see someone else’s take on Orks, to my knowledge there has never been officially licensed Ork figures or statues.
JoyToy's stuff is pretty solid. The only problem I've had with mine is the shield port for a figure broke when it base-dived off of a shelf, which has more to do with gravity/physics than QC. Otherwise, they're super-nice, if a bit pricey. My biggest complaint with JoyToy is that somehow they've yet to send BBTS their latest stock. I want my goddamned diorama pieces already!
come to think of it, remember how Astartes scales compare with normal human, if they stay true to scale, this line will be bigger than their current 1:18 line up
I've a handful of Hiya predators and DC figures, the current JT figures are vastly superior. No paint siezed joints on my JT figures so far. They don't have that fragile feel Hiya seems to have.
ED-209 doesn't have traditional ball-n-socket or hinge joints, so you should be ok. Or at least I hope so since my 209 is waiting to be shaped. If you buy any other figures it's best to warm up the joints first.
Interesting...I bought 2 of their Steelbone mechas and the construction is pretty solid. In fact, I was impressed by the amount of details. My only complaint was the paint felt abit er, sticky or tacky (?) on one of the mecha.
Oh, so more Primaris then. Fun. Also, not having large greaves is a poor design choice and kind of removes an iconic Space Marine element.
