And the newer, "grainier" soft plastic they started using with Rung doesn't affect the paint either.

Personally, I see the engineering that actually went into the wheels themselves and immediately stop caring that they aren't painted. The fact that they compress into the body and, in the case of the shoulder wheels, seem to actually split in half is enough for me

Is this for all the soft plastic parts released after Rung? That’s actually really good to hear, I love the look of the cannon on this one and the blast effects look great so it’ll be nice to be able to use them.

From the main site news page.

Oh, I dunno BlackConvoy, I'd say he's in good company...

And, rather (in?) appropriately, I made this comment here, wearing these...

They gave him a pointing finger and not just a hooked individual finger!  Commander class justified!

Seriously if you really wanted a good Rodimus (that wasn\'t post matrix Hot Rod) this looks like a thoroughly satisfying job.

If only the paint job was better, but then again, this IS Hasbro we're taking about...

I simultaneously think the figure looks amazing but also kinda tough to drop $80 on. The trailer, while nicely designed is still rather boring. He doesn’t have the big chunky height appeal of Jetfire nor the numerous play features of Sky Lynx. The trailer is probably going into a box when I’m not displaying vehicle mode.

The “you can see the price reflected in the engineering” claim is valid but still kinda hard to accept. I’m used to that kind of pricing model with Masterpiece but it’s tough to get used to with mass retail products. I can’t stop thinking of the $50 Leader class figures I could get a decade ago that were bigger than this and often had electronics.

Now we’re seeing mass retail stuff appeal more to older collectors with an emphasis on scale, articulation, and no compromising gimmicks. Which is cool, but also makes some purchases feel like bigger investments much like purchasing a Masterpiece figure feels like.

They've been doing that since Siege.

Looks great to me aside, from a few small nit pics. I did think it was going to be taller than it is, but it still looks fine to me especially in that S3 character groupshot. I don\'t care that Galvatron is taller, I actually like it when the bad guys are bigger than the good guys.

I'll concede that the base Rodimus figure is... quite superb. A lot of my original gripes are still present but its engineering and sheer presence are definitely impressive.

But I'll wait for this to drop well below the $80 MSRP before I bite.

I'll bet my last Energon Cube that Hasbro could have made the Winnebago mode more pristine but they decided to make it look longer than the Leader class one instead...

I can't afford either but they probably both weigh the same.

Now you can have both forms. Nothing to regret.

He looks really good and a sure buy for me, but it would have been nice for him to be about Galvatron's height

OK, so looking at the video closely it appears the spoiler wing IS screwed into place...that being the case I put out a call for 3rd Party companies to make a color molded yellow replacement so I can ditch the yellow painted, clear blue one this comes with, lol.

I am really happy actually. I can have both hot Rod and Rodimus prime. Same way how I have thrilling 30s Orion pax and siege/earthrise prime

I'm good with Kingdom Magnus as is (I fear the compromises it would take to get his trailer to car carry and still look right in bot mode) but I'd absolutely plop down for a Commander Class ER Op.

Hey at least they painted those rims silver ...
Wait. Nah. That would have cost money and since this is a Commander Class figure ...

    Wait.

But, but ... everyone defended saying the wheels split in half and you couldn't possibly paint that type of material.

Hey, waiiiit a minute. Those wheels do NOT split. So ummm ... why aren't those wheels painted silver?

Would it be much more amazing and worthy of being Commander Class if this Rodimus had a "show accurate" transformation ? ya know, both the car and the trailer transforming together to make his robot mode rather than just using the car to make Rodimus.
Would be an awesome feat of engineering
