    Hopefully one.

So like a remake, remaster, or what?

    Please be the former.

    Fair enough.

So why call it a prequel then?

I’m sorry WHY is F. Gary Gray directing MASK

cool that we have a release date but I still wanna see something more substantial about the film before I jump to conclusions. Toy Story 4 was good though so I’m eager to see what this movie looks like.

Nope. It's theatrical. From Deadline's article when they first announced it: "Hasbro’s entertainment studio eOne and Paramount have quietly hired Josh Cooley — fresh off winning a Best Animated Film Oscar for Toy Story 4 — to direct a big-scale Transformers theatrical prequel that sources said focuses on an origin story."

    Likely all-CGI

IKR, at least use a pic of Prime from the BB film.

    As they should.

    Who knows...

:p  Every Transformers Movie apes the 86 movie in some way. Even if it's not a direct remake it will be related.

I was up till 1am watching Season 4 of Castlevainia last night. Now if Hasbro made G1 shows or animated movies with that kind of quality I wouldn't care how bad they continued to screw up the rest of those live action films.

Plus starting off with an IDW based Megatron Origin animated movie would be bought on sight!

I'm somewhere between a "hardcore" TF fan, and a casual TF fan.

That said...I'm burned out on TF movies, and I'm more interested in a Micronauts movie (that will probably never get made).

I wonder how they'll address the design* of Baron Karza?

*"they're just ripping off Darth Vader's helmet!"

I imagine they'll take up cues from the IDW comics.

on one hand, excited for an animated movie from a Pixar director, that gives us probably a signficantly higher chance of being one of the best TF movies ever, because the Pixar team REALLY knows story, which gives it a huge leg up on any of the Bayverse films.

On the other, dreading the potential of some post-modern moral relativity nonsense implied by "An original new story revolve(ing) around the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron" (so help me, if Megatron shares his poetry I will full-on do the Prowl table flip)

No offense, but yeah no. Besides animation wise it wouldn’t hold a candle to the original. Western animation has been circling the drain for years. Now if it was something in the vain of the Bumbler film Cybertron scenes then they might have something. But the past film is a work of art where animation is concerned and modern sensibilities couldn’t replicate it.

I'm glad that this is still going forth, I just hope it isn't animated like Cyberverse of anything like that. CGI with some grit or animation like Gundam or Gurren Lagann would be awesome. TF needs to go back to its Eastern roots.

I really hope they've reworked Micronauts from the previous lousy idea they had for a movie - an animated movie aimed at younger kids that's basically Small Soldiers but with Micronauts. What a total waste.

Ohhh, that makes sense actually. I was thinking more in relation to stuff like Friday or Straight Outta Compton but with the Fast and Furious experience that makes sense (though if M.A.S.K. is more Friday/Straight Outta Compton than Fast and Furious I also won't be upset lol)

Well, as long as it's not Bayformers designs, I'm game; I don't think my eyes could handle watching walking-junkyards having sex in a junkyard planet for 2 hours straight, lol.
