completely unrelated to transformers, it's from a comic series called Bird/BINARY.

So having this for a bit now, the black paint on it is an absolute dust magnet.

So, my friend just received it. Is this the new revision / updated version? It seems that it came with a separate baggy on the left top corner. We both assumed this is the new fixed release? can anybody confirm for us?

Yes. The extra bag confirm it.
Someone received this bag with extra missile pods, in a recent order. But I didn't found the post to quote.

I hope it is safe to say since today is Feb 20, 2021. All Kalavinka coming from ShowZ are "Second Batch" with the baggy and all fixes. :)
Trying to save up and perhaps place my order at the beginning of March.

Except for the elbows and ankles, yes.

For those who ordered the 1st batch of Kalavinka from ShowZ :
"We got the replacement missile bay for FIRST BATCH Big Firebird Kalavinka, we can ship out with your other orders together, please leave us a message via email or message"

Just opened mine. First impressions are incredibly positive. It looks fantastic - great sharp angles, slightly alien/super robot aesthetic.

The transformation is pretty good - not overly complex, and quite intuitive. It reminds me a lot of the transformation for Studio Series TF2007 Starscream, in that everything moves in really logical ways, and I love that it does things with the wing mass that doesn't just involve them becoming a cape.

It sort of gives off the look of one of those high end mecha model kits, but is much more playable (and modestly priced too!)

I can only thing of two cons - the shoulder articulation is a bit weird (outward motion isn't particularly intuitive) and I don't like that the shield partsforms. Neither are a deal breaker to me.

All told, I want to see more just like this.

So my replacements came in...and they're exactly the same as the first ones. Still don't fit on the wingtips.

    This is unexpected.
Mines are shipped, didn't get them yet... But good to know, thanks for the info.
    And sorry for you.

So... Some goods, some bads, are there going to be non-homogeneous replacement parts ... What a mess ...

@Rath, do you intend to inform Show Z about this?
If it's the same for me, I think I will. Will see next week.

I think I'll see what yours come in as first; I'm curious whether they sent the wrong parts (like straight replacements from the first batch) or if that's just how they are. Good luck with yours!

    Deal! Good idea.
Thanks. Plus, I will get those of a friend with mines, and a second Kalavinka, second batch. Will have a ton of material to compare :D

    Hi @Rath,

Got the replacement parts today. 2 pairs are ok. the 3rd has an incorrect missile bay. I sanded and used an x-acto blade to correct this, but it's not perfect either.

My observation: second batch missile bay have a sliiiiightly larger gap than first batch, but I also notice that the glue dose could also play a role.

In the photo below, no glue, we see that the parts are deviating ... a lot. But it holds, that's what we want.

On this one, my sh**y replacement part, sanded, we see that the pegs are tighter (even more than the first batch!) and the flash reveals a white stress mark. Visible trace of glue (not on the pic).

Well ... I saw better spare parts ...

Makes it sound like it's probably just how they are then. I'll probably just keep the extras in case I lose the originals and just treat the missile pods as not actually going on the wingtips at all.

So, I've read that the articulation in this thing is somewhat limited. I've watched a review and the only thing the reviewer called attention to was the lack of a waist swivel.

Still, he also didn't really show lateral arm movement.

Do my question is what are the limitations of this thing's articulation? No waist swivel and the shoulder joints only rotate, don't allow to splay the arms sideways?

I looked over pics in previous posts and it looks like there is lateral arm movement.

You can spray the arms sideways. Although limited by the canards.
It doesn't bother me. I don't intend to crucify Kalavinka :D

Thanks! Doesn't sound so bad, I also checked another review and indeed the arms can move to the sides enough.

One more question, I've seen images of this figure with long claw-fingers, can it actually do that?

Funny thing, I've seen this announced ages ago, forgot about it and only stumbled upon it again while checking out the magic Henshin combiner. Now I'm actually leaving towards getting this instead of the combiner, not only is the design awesome, it seems much better value for money.
