I think most people are just interested in the character rather than the specific set so this would be nice (I know some people have resorted to using HotLink as a stand in, but c'mon we all know that's not Skywarp). I'll go so far as to say they could probably make more people happy (or annoyed) if they actually did the toy in black plastic this time. The original owners can still point to having the first version, while everyone else gets their Skywarp.

It would be extremely funny to me if they re-released all the hard-to-find exclusives, but waited like three or four years, so it's at the point where the fandom is going "isn't it about time we had an update of Prowl and Ironhide" and nobody wants the earthrise versions anymore.

You mean like they just did with the headmasters with the minor paint job, box, and faces for double the price after something like 3 years?

Or the "wing". Megatron that was mildly repainted, put in a box and resold 3 years later at around triple the price.

I was thinking more like Combiner Wars Devastator, which was like $300 on the aftermarket for years, then got reissued and several months later is still hanging out on Amazon for MSRP as everyone goes, "Come on Hasbro, update the Constructicons in SS86."

The mold is still being used as evidence by the upcoming Zombie Tetrajet package. Just a coloring change to produce more Skywarps.

Double the price? Wasn't MSRP for the TR headmasters 16.99? The current MSRP for the retro re-releases is only 19.99. A 15% increase in 3 years isn't great but nowhere near double the price.

Nope.. they were 15$CAN when TR, and these are 33$ CAD on this G1 box re-release... So more than 50% actually.

There's other countries than the US out there and pricing differ fyi.

I actually saw two Thrusts in one of my area Targets about a month or so ago (and they had bothered to print a new shelf tag that said Thrust). Of course, they are long gone now but you never know what could happen in the future. I do agree with the idea that many of the Earthrise figures will be re-released (minor repaints) under the "Retro" banner in a couple years. Retro packaging is just a license to print money and Hasbro knows it.

At this point I’m more worried about materials cost increases driving up a current $20 or $30 USD to $25 and $40 or something to that effect, especially for exclusive toys. Would absolutely hate to miss $20 msrp runabout just to buy another exclusive version in a year that costs $25.

Also, just for a USD reference, Titans Return deluxes were $15 at say, walmart and Target, with the retro packs upping them to $20

This is me right now. I missed CW Devastator, and for a while I was fighting with myself if I would crack and get him anyway at scalpers price. I didn’t. Now he’s sitting at Amazon at the lowest I ever seen him...and I’m still hesitating because I’m like...what if a new and better one comes out in 1-2 years ? What are the chances, should I get him anyway ?

Similarly, I didn’t get Runamuck because Runabout was impossible to get and didn’t want ending up with just one of them. Now if Runabout gets eventually rerelease as a non exclusive. You can bet that Runamuck will be too old and hard to find except for ebay and I will regret this. Actually the best scenario would be a rerelease as a two pack.

Spinout & Cordon were, so I hope these get another run as a two pack too. Sucked that each was different retailer exclusives.

That was painful. Target knows how to twist the knife.

I had CW Devy sitting in my basement unopened for 3 years...finally opened him a couple months ago...he’s fun and he’s pretty solid in Devy mode. The individual bot modes are better than I expected as well. I thought I’d be unhappy with him...which is why he sat unopened for so long.

I hope Runabout (and Thrust) do get re-released. They're two of my must-haves.
I won't say no to those, but I think I'd like Earthrise versions as well - preferably Marvel comics deco versions.

Or at least make that Ratchet/Lifeline set a lot easier to get hold of. Right now, the only WFC Ratchet I've got is that Shattered Glass nutcase.....

I paid the Ebay tax to get him... Not proud of it. But those colors are my light and my soul. He's a gorgeous figure, along with his Holy brother, Runamuck! I hope I am never that weak again. $60 shipped is too much for a deluxe.

    irreplaceables.jpg

Yeah. Thrust was one case where TFSource kind of sort of grudgingly did me a solid by only slightly overcharging me for him. $54 pre shipping. But I couldn't get that price now if I tried, probably... And I've spent far too much time running in and out of Target stores, this guy doesn't exist out here, or the employees are buying him because they know.

If there's anyone out there who feels this way, please sell me your Phantomstrike Squadron Battle Masters. I'm hoping to end up with 2 sets of them, but I don't need 2 copies of Skywarp and I'd never be able to afford them anyway.

Honestly, many Target tf excl. have found their way to Ollies, so they may get re-relased there in the future.
