I love watching new generations get into something that really meant a lot to me when I was a kid. Whether it was RID, Animated, Cyberverse, whatever the brand is irrelevant. Watching new fans grow into Transformers is something I'll never tire of.

I understand, but that doesn't mean we have to accept that as our final fate. I recommend watching Star trek II: The Wrath of Khan, as Kirk was pretty much facing the same thing.

    IMG_20210110_150107.jpg
And no he is not a reissue......

Seems a fitting figure for the I'm old thread.

Wait, you're telling me I could have become a Transformer back when I was a kid, and no one told me about it?! I got gypped!

The release of the first GI Joe 3 3/4" line is now closer in time to World War II than it is to the present day. Same for anyone born around 1982 or before.

    Yikes.

I just turned 30, but I've already developed the "I don't give a f**k about your feelings or opinions" mindset already.

I feel disconnected from time. I don't feel old and all these things feel like recently. It's as if the world around me travels at a faster progression of time then I do. It doesn't make me feel old, it just feels weird.

That can't be right. Wait.... checks on calculator. Damn. :(

I'm constantly thinking the early 2000's were like 10 years ago. Brain doesn't like to admit it's getting old, still feel like I'm 21, not 41

(Hot Rod is the most recent reissue. Our cocker spaniel, Nikki, chewed up Targetmaster Hot Rod's spoiler.)

    Just a gentle FYI: "
    gypsy
" and related terms are an ethnic slur.

Anyway, my first TF was either G1 Topspin or Dirge. We were so young that Dirge's landing gear was taken away and put in a tall dresser drawer. Mom probably thought it was a choking hazard. I found it in there many years later. Aside from a chewed-up rubber tip (nosecone) and faded decals, Dirge is complete. If only everything had made it.

(BTW, just so you know, the Internet existed in the 1980s. The web did not. The Internet was predominantly a government/academic thing at first. It was invented - not kidding - to establish a decentralized network so the U.S. government & military could continue to communicate in the event of nuclear war.)

But for all my X/Millennial cuspers - people who became young adults circa the late '90s, give or take - consider this depressing fact that someone recently told me.

The plot of the Austin Powers movies involves a groovy secret agent who was cryogenically frozen in 1967 and revived in 1997 - so he was frozen for approximately 30 years.

If a similar scenario were to happen this year, the agent would have been frozen in 1991. Instead of bellbottoms and tie-dye, the totally radical agent would be wearing what...neon? Parachute pants? A windbreaker? Or maybe they'd be totally grunge.

I got back into collecting with the G1 reissues and Dreamwave when I was 26. That's almost 19 years ago.

Appetite for Destruction is older now than Classic Rock was when I was in college.

I have Penn State T-shirts older than kids I work with.

I'm drafting NFL rookies that were born after I first started doing fantasy football. Which was several years after college.

I remember going to the theater to see Star Wars. in 1977.

To tie it back to this site, I remember the Diakron commercials.
